New Ecowitt Station.

Post by water01 »

I have now got a Ecowitt GW1100, so if you had the choice which Ecowitt station would you add to it:-

1) The WS2910 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecowitt-Wirele ... ast_sto_dp

or

2) The HP2551 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecowitt-Wirele ... ast_sto_dp

Favouring the HP2551 at the moment but is that extra stuff not needed if you have a GW1100?

Extra stuff being the console & the indoor sensor?
(Noting that the GW1000 won't read that sensor).

I went with the HP2551 for the two I bought, primarily based on the bigger display.

Would have to say I really like the display. Clear & contains all data at a glance.
Mine sits outsides in the Bbq area where I spend a lot of time & it's well worth the price to have the data a single glance away,
Adds that convenience of not picking up a phone or a tablet.
Glad I got it & even contemplating a second console down the track.

Price difference here in Aus was less that $100Aud, with the HP2551 selling for $279.

Cheers.

Why the sampling interval is set to 10 seconds? The ws80 update the wind every 4.8sec.
In this way i think will miss a lot of reading

My manual says the sampling can be set at 5 sec as standard. Not sure where you got 10 sec from in this thread.

Please be clear with station type you are using.

The HTTP station update rate is controlled by the station.

The GW1000 station update rate is controlled by CMX. That is indeed 10 seconds, because the interval was set before Ecowitt came out with the WS80. Prior to that their fastest data update rate was 16 seconds. I will amend the GW1000 station to use a faster rate for WS80 sensors.

sorry :groan: yes i intended with the gw1000/1100 ;)
i've see the ultrasonic anemometer update the data every 4.8sec.
The manual report this:
ws80.PNG
is not very clear, via wsview app i've never see the 2 second (or 1) update.
probably it has an internal buffer where it save the gust in the 4.8second interval.

Version 3.13.0 of CMX should now change the update rate for GW1000 stations to 4 seconds when it detects a WS80 wind sensor is present.
