Month Data Log - mixed times

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Month Data Log - mixed times

Post by LindaFNM »

Please does anyone know what effect ‘mixed’ times would have in the month data logs? I have large gaps in places in my files for various reasons.

For my earlier records I used the file importer into Cumulus from .wlk Davis files, logged at 5 minute intervals. I now have times when, since using Ecowitt, logged at 1 minute intervals, I have missing chunks of data. I was wondering if I can get away with copying the missing data from Davis without any conversions etc. if I did so, I’d have a monthly log with some data at 1 minute intervals mixed with data at 5 minutes. Can CumulusMX cope with this, or will it throw out averages etc? I hope this is clear, sorry it’s a bit garbled!

I have been working by getting records correct at the daily log level as much as possible but would like to gradually sort out the basic logs if I can.

Many thanks.

Mixed intervals will not make any material difference, where MX uses them for averages etc, it will divide by the number of entries used so that is OK. For things like 10 minute gust it uses the timestamps. So both methods are interval value independent.

Thanks Mark, that’s brilliant!

Was using a package that didn’t like that approach. That’ll make a huge difference to me getting my log files in order, together with the Create Missing Utility.
