Dashboard: 'Upgrade Available'

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

"Upgrade available" appears on your dashboard all the time (strictly, it appears if you select the "Cumulus upgrade available" alarm under Settings -> Alarm Settings). If there is a green dot next to it then there is nothing to worry about. If the dot is red then it means an upgrade is available. If you click/tap on the red dot then it will take you to the downloads page on the Wiki.

I think it is because there is only the upgrade alarm visible by default that causes some confusion. The next release will enable some other alarms by default and I think it will be clearer then.

That whole area is for "alarms", which are green when good, red (actually flashing red) when bad or an event has happened.

They are not "alerts", i.e. something that show when it has happened/available.

There are many alarms available, so CMX only shows the ones that enabled to avoid display clutter. It used to show them all, with disabled ones shown as grey, but as more got added the thing got a bit messy.

Most alarms are weather data related, for instance the wind gust has exceed xx mph, and flash red when that has happened, shows green when everything is OK and below the threshold. The upgrade alarm doesn't quite fit the usual pattern, but it uses the same alarm mechanics and philosophy.

The next release will......
Would it be difficult to change the wording to "Latest Version Installed" when that is the case & have wording revert to "Upgrade Available" when it's relevant?

I assume the cation is currently a static string.

Cheers.
