Weatherflow support

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Weatherflow support

Post by philpugh »

Nice to see support for Weatherflow in b3145! Finally I can get my original Weatherflow working with good s/w!
However - unless I have missed something important - I can't get it to collect all the data.

In the set-up I requested a download of two historic records - just to check it out. I have enabled Debug/FTP/Data logging. Note I don't use FTP to update the web - it's on the same RPi4 so it's set to copy.

Attached is the MXdiags file for the short start up run up to and including the first write to the database.

Note that it is only 'seeing' data from the wind sensor - not even the whole SKY unit (no UV/Solar data). Also there is a line early on that implies a failure to get data from somewhere (tempest web server?)

I have also included a copy on Cumulus.ini (suitably edited to remove sensitive data).

I have been uploading data to the weatherflow site https://tempestwx.com/station/11051/ for quite a while without any issues. Also the setup works with the meteobridge s/w.

The main thing I notice is that it is NOT logging any data - although it must be receiving some.

Anyone spot any flaws in my setup please?

Hi Phil, I really don't know much about these stations, but I'll have a look. Could you do a run with debug and data logging enabled please?

The history is returning a 404, when I try the url with a token of 123 I get "401 - Unauthorised". Is there historic data available for the last two days?

The MXdiags file says it is creating the monthly log entry OK

Code: Select all

2021-09-03 17:40:00.189 DoLogFile: Writing log entry for 03/09/2021 17:40:00
2021-09-03 17:40:00.189 DoLogFile: max gust: 6.2
2021-09-03 17:40:00.191 DoLogFile: log entry for 03/09/2021 17:40:00 written
The the diags file cuts off after that.

Phil,

Unfortunately, the Weatherflow support is limited at this time to the Tempest model. The API's are very similar, but different enough that I didn't include support for the other models.

As you can see, the Wind record is the same format for for Sky & Tempest so it works.

I only have the Tempest model so that's why it isn't included, nothing to test with.

Regards,

Mark: the log was done with everything being logged! There should be many days logged at tempest.com

Doug: Is it possible to add Sky and Air ?

I can provide a set of data as transmitted by the hub.

Hi all. Yes, i would like to see support for air and sky in the future. Is there any doco available for the compilation of the source code as i would like to give it a crack.? Doug has done some great work in getting the Tempest working, it appears that it would be pretty easy to get either sky or air up and running. My focus is generally wind and rain events

Cheers.

Attached file contains raw data from UDP connection to port 50222 from my Weatherflow Hub. It has data from both SKY (SK-00007150) and AIR (AR-00007133) as well as hub status etc

Data was collect by a neat bit of software https://github.com/vinceskahan/weatherflow-udp-listener

Data is arranged as 'raw' data and decoded data.

Phil,

Would you be willing to create a token that you can share with me so I can test the air/sky REST downloads?

Thanks,
