Temp Gauges Gone Whacky

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Temp Gauges Gone Whacky

Post by NorthSharon »

Hi, in version 3.12.0 (build 3141), on the Gauges page, the Outside temperature and the Other Temperatures gauges are broken (Inside temperature works). The symptom is that the needle cycles clockwise repeatedly, and the displayed value ranges from -9999 to about -1500. The tooltip hover bubble shows the correct data.

I can confirm I'm having this same issue. This is only on the internal admin display page for me, i.e. the port 8998 page.
Specifically: http://127.0.0.1:8998/gauges.html

Have you ruled out a caching issue - i.e. force refresh of page, or manually clear the cache?

Is it just the temp gauges on the gauges page?

Do you use a locale with comma decimal points?

Could you use a Chrome or Edge browser, then...
Open the DevTools (F12).
Load the gauges page again.
In the DevTools | Network, scroll down to find the entry "ws", click this row.
In the right-hand pane that opens, click one of the entries.
In the bottom right-hand pane that opens select all the data (Ctl-A, Ctl-C), and paste it here please.

Just the Temp gauges, and only Outside temp (not Inside), and each/all of the Other temps.
Locale is US - comma and decimal.
Interestingly, when the keepalives stop and the page stops websockets, the gauge stops spinning and correctly shows the last temperature.

Could you try putting this updated script in your /interface/js/ folder please - and force a full page refresh...

OK, you may want to try this new Gauges page that goes with that script....
put in /interface/

The issue was I had added Feels Like, but half cocked. :groan:
That new script and this updated page finish it off :bash:

Wicked nice!
The gaugefeed.js script was missing a line ... I added:
feelslike: inp.FeelsLike.toString(),

On a side note, do you know why the Humidex value is so low (21.9) while the Apparent temp is 68.2 ... guessing that it is Celsius?

Ta. I have updated the .zip file above

It's Humidity index - an index so technically it is unitless, but yes based upon Celsius.

I presume this
feelslike: inp.FeelsLike.toString(),
relates to the
undefined
which should read
Feels Like

If so what line is this on?

Thanks

No, the "undefined" on the gauge when displaying Feels Like is because the language file that comes with the SteelSeries weather gauges needs the additional Feels Like text adding. I've added that for the next release, but meantime it's a minor hiccup.

Cumulus runs a slightly customised version of the SteelSeries gauges anyway, I had already added the feels like code to gauges.js, but the lang and gaugefeed scripts got missed. Looks like I got distracted half way through implementing this!

This is the current MXUI template gauges language file which includes updates supplied by the various contributors.
