New weather station

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Did you see this Edit: broken link removed

Was an Australian ebay ad for approx. £28 and free international posting ! - obviously an error and quickly removed :(

It has poor reviews (what few I can find) typically

Hi,

The ebay link appears to be broken, but the review is to an Ecowitt/Fine Offset which connects via WiFi (not USB) and is said to be compatible with MX. A similar version is available in UK from CPC for just over £100. However, I've seen numerous comments that the clarity (viewing angle) of the Console is dissapointingly poor.

Cheers, Alan.

I very much doubt you can use it with CMX as is, however if it is an Ecowitt - the 155 model for £28 that @beteljuice linked looks like a Ventus, which is rebadged Ecowitt I believe - it may work if you can get a compatible GW-1000 unit.

You can see which Ecowitt stations are supported on this thread...
https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0

That station does not look like an Ecowitt to me.

I asked because devanti is not on the unsupported list and not on the compatible list?

Unless it supports the Ecowitt local station API CMX does not support it.

Does it support adding a custom HTTP upload in either the Weather Underground or Ecowitt data formats, or will it upload to the Ecowitt cloud? If it does then weewx has a couple of drivers that should work with it.

Hi,

I don't know about the "Devanti" (nor internet protocols in general), but the Console in the Australian review link does look very similar to the "Pro Signal" station on the CPC/Farnell website , which includes a free .PDF download of the "Operating Instructions". Maybe a dangerous assumption, but also the UK price does appear similar to the equivalent in AU$.

From the above User Manual:

8. Live Internet Publishing [page 32]
Your console is capable of sending your sensor data to select internet-based weather services.
The supported services are shown in the table below:

Code: Select all

Hosting Service Website Description

Ecowitt Weather https://www.ecowitt.net Ecowitt is a new weather server that can host a bunch
of sensors that other services don’t support.
e. Upload your weather data to Customized Websit [page 51]
If you want to upload data to your customized website, select Enable button
(display blue) and select the protocol type. The website should has the same protocol
with Wunderground or Ecowitt. Input all the information needed. Press Save.

Cheers, Alan.

The image in the link does look similar to the Ecowitt WH24 which is shown in the WS View app as part of the device configuration - however it is described elsewhere on the net as an 'ancient device' that has no on-going support. There is obviously a work-around in ecowitt's application to get data from device.

Also it's very similar to the FO WH2950 which shows it having it's own 'gateway' device (?forerunner of the GW1000)

I suspect this is another case of caveat emptor
