Hi,
I have had a brief look through the forum posts but cannot see anything that sheds any light on the below. Sorry if I've missed it.
I've migrated over from Cumulus 1 to MX and am not sure how I can tell if I get a erroneous value, i.e. a massive rain spike if my sensor it hit by accident.
Previously in Cumulus 1 there was a flashing red error light that would be displayed, which would draw my attention to the erroneous value and clicking on it would then show the problem. Then I could go and edit it out.
Now I've switched to MX, which is command line only, I am not sure how I could be alerted to know that erroneous data has been logged.
Could someone inform me how/if it is possible in MX that it can bring to my attention when I get an spurious value.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Re: How to detect when erroneous value has been detected in Cumulus MX
Hi,
To be honest, this forum has plenty of instructions/pointers for these problems - albeit in the form of individual topics - but are easily found using the forum search.
I would start with the Wiki, as this has everything you need to know.
Untrue. Although MX doesn't have a classic GUI, it does have a web-based frontend. This can be accessed using your web browser, and accessing http://localhost:8998/
MX has this as well.
Instructions for migrating are available on the Wiki - https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Category:Cumulus_MX

Hi Freddie,
Thanks you for your informative reply.
I will check out the link and also get myself more familiar with the web-based front end.

Mark

Re: How to detect when erroneous value has been detected in Cumulus MX
Freddie correctly points you to all the documentation for MX, and that should be useful.
Please note, the feature you want is called Alarms and nobody has contributed any documentation for that yet. The main reason is that alarm handling has been changing a lot, and it is difficult to document a moving target.
However, if you do as Freddie says and look at the web based front end, the Alarms are shown at bottom of the default page.

Re: How to detect when erroneous value has been detected in Cumulus MX
Hi Sfws,
I have just been looking at the Alarms section and have set it up.
It took me a while to get the test email to send as was putting in an IMAP server name
rather than an SMTP one. Then had to use a 2form factor app password I had generated
rather than my standard password.
But eventually I managed to get the test email to send OK, so hopefully it will inform me
when there is a problem.
I now notice that the alarms that I have enabled are shown at the bottom of the MX
web-based frontend 'dashboard'. I guess that the green lights will flash red to show
when the alarm is triggered?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
And great to see you a bit more here.
The other Mark has been doing great stuff with CumulusMX and the recent alarm email warnings is one of them. Now I get the CRTDG weather alarms, and from CMX just in case I missed the first one
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: How to detect when erroneous value has been detected in Cumulus MX
Hi Paul,
Yes it's been quite a while since I've been on the forum, it's been a busy few years for me with family life and one thing
and another, which ment that I have not had much spare time.
My weather website got a bit neglected, so have spent the past couple of weekends trying to tidy it up, and update things. So though I would update to MX, especially now my FineOffset weather station only has one spare new sensor unit left in my draw as the one in it died and used up one of the two I had. So if that dies again I think I'm going to struggle sourcing any more. Which will then mean that I will have to buy a new station, probably an Ecowitt one, as I see that MX supports this new weather station.
Btw. How is CRTDG holding up for you? It's still working fine for me even though I coded it a fair few years back, and have not done anything more to it.
Yes the other Mark has done a fantastic job with MX I'm very impressed with it, and it works a treat. I may look into moving my weather station onto a Raspberry pi as I have one spare, but at the moment I will keep it on my Win10 machine to make sure I have no problems.
All the best
Mark

Re: How to detect when erroneous value has been detected in Cumulus MX
Hi Mark,
CRTDG is still working without issue and enjoying on my old Acer Windows8 and Cumulus1 www.komokaweather.com and giving the email alerts. Also regularly use the built-in Calculator. The only issue is that browser caching sometimes stops the charts from being current, as it does on some of my other pages.
And also on my Windows10 PC and CumulusMx
