Historic Charts - strange bahaviour

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Historic Charts - strange bahaviour

Post by dziedzicmj »

The historic charts do not display properly.

I am running Cumulus s/w since August 2010. Originally vesrion1 and the MX since June 2020.

In 3.11.3, when I tried displaying historical charts, the graph showed actual data from 2010 to 2013, a solid line till the day before and actual data for the current day.

In 3.11.4, this behaviour changed. Even if i select "All", only data from the beginning of time (Aug 2010) to the end of 2013 shows up.

Any ideas what might be the issue?

Solved. Error in data file. Date format changed part-way through the file. After changing date separator from "/" to "-", the problem went away.

You will need to edit your dayfile.txt file to change to old date formats to the new format (assuming you want to keep the new format).

Then restart Cumulus MX.

The first question is how this corruption has happened, and maybe you need to sort that out, or you will get further errors. Could it be your Davis has the wrong time, or your Microsoft Windows time format got changed?

Amending should be easy, I won't repeat the documentation. See https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Correcting_Extremes, for full instructions. It is simple to cure your All-time problem just look in https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Alltimelog.txt file to see previous correct entry before it was corrupted.
Also, look in https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Backup_folder for past copies of files like https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Month.ini etc. that will show you what (for example) the value and time-stamp for low dew point was before it became 31 July.

I hope that helps.

Hi,
All your Charts seem to be ok.
Possibly your post should be in a new thread for your "Records" issue.

To your problem;
Does it show the same on the local Dashboard Records tab?

It appears that there is some data or date error in your files. Do you have in error a Jul21log.txt file?
Check the alltime month and year .ini files in your \data folder.
Use the Edit > All Time, Monthly, This month's and This Year's Records to view and edit as needed.

Enjoy,
Paul

Tnks to both of you for quick and detailed explanation.
My guess is system time has been messed up sometime in the past.
Checked logs and ini files and amended the best i can
Keep up the good work and thanks again :)
