CuMX 3.10+ NOAA tweaked template ...

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

CuMX 3.10+ NOAA tweaked template ...

Post by beteljuice »

Yes .... the beteljuice has been playing again :?

Minor edits to the htm file, surgery to the js file.

Slightly better presentation of option drop downs.
Presents latest month record found (rather than assumed year) on page load.
Showing displayed year record is just mouse-over year selector.

See it / get it here ...

@beteljuice: I do get some weird messages from my Malwarebytes protection while trying to download:
Website blocked due to a suspicious download

Download blocked: http://www.beteljuice.co.uk/DEMOS/newmx/betel_noaa.zip
Malwarebytes Browser Guard blocks downloads that either come from websites that see relatively light traffic or may contain potentially malicious content. This is intended to protect you from new scams. However, if you trust content from this site and would like to proceed, click "Continue."
-----
What is a suspicious download?
Possible suspicious activity encompasses a variety of behaviors that are commonly attributed to technical support scams, cryptojacking, browser hijacking, and other types of harmful, risky, and potentially unwanted objects.
Given the recent turmoil about site hacking maybe it is time to review some content of yours.

(and yes, I clicked continue and downloaded. ;) )

More likely it's the "light traffic", although how it gets to make that decision ?

I've noticed more and more search terms no longer find betel stuff, probably because I refuse to use SEO code, just using meta tags which they are supposed to honour but now appear to ignore ?

Yes they are ignored these days.
The googles of today read the content and do their calculations.

Actually I get more the idea that nothing really counts but change. If you create a new website it comes up in the results pretty fast but if you leave it as is, it disappears quickly.
You are forced to change.

Fortunately the weather does

But btw: Malwarebytes is not a search engine, it is my local anti-malware agent.

Hmm, I've been looking at that page too - it has some accessibility issues with the month selection, and I wanted to make the same year "reselectable" after displaying a month. Not easy with a dropdown selector. I made some progress, but not all the way there yet.

@Mark
I wanted to make the same year "reselectable" after displaying a month.
Look at my html ..
The containing <div> simply has onmouseenter- to refire the currently selected year. That page will work with the existing js.
it has some accessibility issues with the month selection
What sort ?
I think it should only be 'available' to wide viewport and perhaps medium ?
I haven't played enough with responsive other than to make mess :D

Well, try and open a monthly report using the keyboard for one. Also your mouseover on the year needs you to... well move a mouse cursor over it - a bit hard if you are blind.

I've been looking again at how navigable the pages are via keyboard input - it's great to have hover actions and such, but there also need to be alternative ways of doing things. I'm just learning about a lot of this accessibility stuff, but some of the CMX settings are pretty bad too - they will be getting a change in a future release.
