Spike Removal

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Spike Removal

Post by freddie »

Are "spikes" detected between subsequent reads from the weather station - i.e. the difference between readings 2-3 seconds apart? I have an intermittent humidity spike on my VP2 (it has been there for years) so am looking at using spike removal, but wanted to understand how it works first :)

See viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3857&p=32265
Although that was written for legacy Cumulus (which did not deal with spike on Davis), I would think the answer is yes for MX viewtopic.php?f=40&t=18560&p=147196 and Davis?

Correct, spike removal now applies to all station types, and it is between subsequent readings.

Does anybody have any suggestions / recommendations for spike removal values.

It depends on what spikes you are seeing. Personally, I have put in a humidity threshold of 4% in, as my weather station occasionally reports outside humidity momentarily 5% above previous and subsequent values.

I haven't set values for other parameters as I haven't experienced any spikes in received values.

Hi freddie,
It was more of a preventative measure I was thinking about. I did see one wind gust spike which I managed to remove manually a few weeks ago but normally things are quite well behaved.
