Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

OK, the default is zero, so the alarm will be cleared after a maximum of 10 minutes. It looks like you managed to catch it within one of those windows - after the daily check.

Not sure what your plan is going forward, but I'd gently lobby for a default of 24 for that particular alarm. I've messed mostly with that alarm but it appears many others may default to 24? - My rationale is that the software out-of-date condition is not going away until I take some action (but, as you wrote elsewhere, it can trigger at odd times - and perhaps be easily missed).
Cheers,
Bob

I set the default latching hours to zero because the default for latching is disabled. As this alarm will never get "unset" - unless a release was completely withdrawn, the latching hours value plays no role.

But I can make all the defaults 24 hours just to consistent.

If the default alarm is made to be 24 hours....then what happens when a new Cumulus MX version is released and 2 or more days pass before you decide to glance at your admin dashboard? Will the alarm be green or red?

It will be red, the latch hours has no effect unless you enable latching - which is disabled by default for this alarm.

Well then that seems like the perfect solution. I don't need the audible alarm. I just need the visual confirmation whenever I glance at the admin console even if days go by without checking.

I got the Upgrade available for the first time yesterday finally a day after the newest build 3101 came out. I didn't upgrade and left it 24 hours to see if it would keep notifying and it does! Seems to be working just great. Very please with this new feature working really well.
