Instructions: The Quick Easy Cumulus MX Synology NAS Installation

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Double check your startup task for Cumulus MX. The logs show that you have used -service -service at the end of the command line, yes twice. It should only be one -service.

This is in reference to step #6.

I have the same double "-service" in my logs and run without this problem. Red herring?

This seems to be a browser restriction thing. Are you accessing your interface with http or https?

That's good, but doesn't explain your browser errors. Are you using a browser on the same computer that Cumulus is running on? Have you tried another browser? Have you tried accessing the interface from another device on your network?

I don't run a Synology NAS, so I don't know whether you can use a browser on it.

Your error message you got when you tried https can be ignored as the MX interface doesn't use https.

The error message "The Notification permission may only be requested in a secure context" is your browser telling you that something may only be done by using https. That is the bit that puzzles me, as MX doesn't use https and the interface works for most other people. Therefore it appears to be a browser issue. You have tried more than one browser, though, and get the same result. So I'm a bit stumped.

OK Thanks for all your troubleshooting.

I have resolved the problem :D
In Program Settings the option
Stop second instance was enabled !!!!!
Once Disabled and a restart of cumulusmx, alll is WORKING :P

Should have picked this when galfert mentioned "-service -service"

Cheers to ALL.

I have that option ticked, and I see the double "-service" in my logs, and it works for me.

Great to hear that it is working now :)

I would suggest starting a new topic for this, as it probably isn't specific to Synology.

Which means you probably now have two instances running? I'd check your process list carefully.

The doubling up of the command line parameters is a "feature" of running as a service. I tried twice to work out a fix and gave up - mainly due to the way Windows handles services with parameters: it's messy!
