SOLVED: From 3064 to 3070... no webfiles are generated

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

SOLVED: From 3064 to 3070... no webfiles are generated

Post by Janzzen »

Hello,

Normally CumulusMX works fine at my server, but since I updated to version 3070, there are no webfiles generated anymore. In the INI-file I have add the rule DISABLEEPSV=1 and that helps to upload realtime.xml with bytes. Before that entry, the files are 0-byte files, empty, but made as well.

The next problem is that version 3070 is not making and uploading the webfiles like today.htm.
I started CMX by using 'Run as administrator' but nothing helps.

I have updated all the files and copy the entire directory INTERFACE.
I also update the cumulus.exe file.

Are there more people with the same problem???
I hope anyone can help me with this.

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Roland.

Hi Roland,
The updates.txt in each build shows the changes from previous version, and there have been a lot between 3064 and 3070.
I usually rename my previous working CumulusMX folder, then fully install a new build, and then copy in the previous build \data and Reports folders, Cumulus.ini.txt, also the previous \web folder files as I've made some changes to the xxxxT.htm files.

I am not familiar with DISABLEEPSV=1 and what it does.

One thing to look for is if your Web/FTP settings have the updates Enabled as in a new install the default is not enabled, but that would have been changed if you used your previous Cumulus.ini settings file.

You can also Enable FTP logging and Debug and Data logging for a short while and then check your MXdiags.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hello Paul,

Normally I update the nessasary files and that's it.
But here goes something wrong, I guess with the FTP-upload.
I'll take a look tomorrow to the log-options.

The option DisableEPSV is an option to Disable the Extended Passive FTP-mode.
That helps for me, I found this option in another topic and it's hidden, you only can add it in the FTP-section of the INI-file, you cannot find this option in the config-website.

I learned one thing... make a backup of the old version, hi.

Thanks Paul, I'll let you know what's going wrong, I have to find that out first...

Roland.

From Memory, I recall FluentFTP.dll was either changed or added last year.

But as mentioned, backup the previous version & do a fresh install & then bring the data across.

I normally copy just the new files, but have needed to double check a bit on the occasions I've missed a version.

Cheers.

Well... I got the solution... reboot the system!

I don't know what was going wrong, but this afternoon I had to restart my server.
And guess... that works! All the files are made and upload now correctly.

My website is working again with all of the data. Nice! :D

Maybe a good advice for others who have this problem after updating...

Rebooting the system shouldn't really make any difference, as MX is executed in the "virtual" environment of .Net, and contains its own copy of all (non .Net) resources it needs. Perhaps something didn't shut down cleanly when you last ran MX?
