how to upgrade cumulus mx in the latest release?

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

That listed file is the change from the previous build, v3.4.5 b3069. As you were likely several builds behind the included updates list shows the changes for each update version. You will need to do a full install.

Enjoy,
Paul

For the sake of clarity when Paul says full install, he means copy these folders:

interface
Reports
web (unless you have made any changes to the base template files)
webfiles

And all the files from acknowledgements.txt to Updates.txt

from the unzipped latest build over your existing installation.

I did it this way;
Step 1) Version 3.4.6 downloaded (build 3070)

Step 2) copied and then overwritten in the folder of the previous installations the files you listed above then cumulus.exe, interface (folder) webfiles (folder), web (folder), reports (folder), update.txt, knownoledgment.txt, but after starting cumulus.exe (green icon) it does not start.
Where am I wrong?

I was thinking but if I install it from 0 that is, I completely delete the folder of the previous build (therefore the cumulus mx folder with all the files) and install the new build?
Then to re-enter all the data so far recorded, how do you do it?

When you say it does not start what do you mean. Do you see the MSDOS Command window open at all? You are right clicking on CumulusMX.exe and using "Run as Administrator"?

Under NO circumstances delete the entire folder as all your existing data is held in the Data folder. It can be fixed without doing this if you give us further information.

Id there a xxxxxxxx.txt file for the start of CumulusMX in the MXdiags folder, if there is post it here.

I mean that the MSDOS window starts but the displayed messages deny the start of the browser with mx, I do not delete the mx folder I temporarily put it on stand-by on a USB stick and then subsequently resume the data (for example nooa)

displayed messages deny the start of the browser with mx
But the engine when it starts says use "http://ip addr:8998/ or http://localhost:8998/" to connect to the engine depending if it is on the same computer or a different one.

Are you saying that your browser says it cannot connect to http://????????????:8998/ as if this is the case it is probably the firewall doing this, but I must admit I am struggling to understand what you mean.

Do you see something like this

If it's just the main MX web page that's not loading in the browser,

http://localhost:8998/ or http://192.168.123.234:8998/ etc,
it could be due to incompatible files being stored in your browsers local cache.

The Cache DOES require clearing at times after an upgrade as it will contain an out of date file that is not being refreshed.

I'm not sure exactly what you have been doing, but if you are updating MX, it is not just

What you should have is all files as in the download in their matching places, and also have (from what you had before the update):
the Cumulus.ini, all the files in data folder, and all the files in Report folder.

It might not answer all questions, and might need some minor correcting, but https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Cumulus_MX does collect a lot of information together.

Can you post the latest file in MXdiags file and put up a picture of the CumulusMX MSDOS window and we might be able to help.
