Moonphase not sync

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

The quarters are now two degrees of phase either side of the event. So -48 is last quarter.

Not sure when this changed but if you are using my script I am going to change it once I have confirmed what CumulsMX is doing with Mark.

Mine just changed to Waning Crescent ...

Your image is way out of whack with the phase though.

I just want it right that's it. Either moonpercentage is sync with moonphase or vice versa.

Thanks.

Sorry to a pain.

They are in sync in your screen shot - it's just the image that is wrong.

Sorry Mark i have to disagree with you there. The image is in sync with moon percentage not moonphase.

Last quarter is only at 50%. 51+ or -49 isnt last quarter.

From that link you will see 50% is only last quarter or first quarter.

We have discussed this before, if you want to be *really* picky, then each quarter is an instant in time and Cumulus should never display them.

A common convention is to mark the whole day in which the event occurs as the quarter/full/new. The +/- 1 percent only gave the phase for a few hours last full moon, so I have widened it to +/- 2 percent.

The Cumulus calculations are only approximations anyway, good enough to be within minutes - but it's a weather program not an astronomy program.
