Cumulus "Current Condition Box"

Post by hqrgro »

Hello

I have noted that in Cumulus there is the possibility to show "Current Condition Box" in diplay setting.
I have enabled in my Cumulos, and now I have a possiblity to write a string in the box.....

My question is:
Is stored in soma place the string?
If yes where?

Thanks a lot...
Best regards
Giorgio

Indeed, it is stored...as a file and a webtag

Just to clarify: it's the other way round, with the file. The currentconditions.txt file provides the content for the box (and hence the web tag), the contents of the box aren't written to the file.

oops!

So trying to turn my faux pas round into a positive, you could create a file with the webtag in it and ask Cumulus to process the file. You then have a file with the condition in it

I have see the help....

"The contents of the 'Current Conditions' box on the main screen (as entered manually). If a file called 'currentconditions.txt' exists in the same directory as the Cumulus executable, the contents of this file will be used instead. The file will be deleted if the text in the current conditions box is modified."

Created the txt file, but changing the value on the condition box the file is not deleted......
I have the condition box updated using the txt file.....?

Is right?

It works OK for me. But I've noticed that the code relies on the current directory being correct. If somehow yours isn't (e.g. you're not starting Cumulus from a shortcut with the 'start in' folder set correctly), then the file deletion will fail because it won't be looking in the right place for the file. I'll change the code so it explicitly looks in the Cumulus folder.

Does the box get updated from the file correctly when the web tag is processed? That would normally cause the file to be deleted anyway.

Yes....
the box is updated correctly from the txt file......

But if I can suggest, it is possible to update the file from the box.....
Could be an improvment.

I would like to shown in web page a wheater gif, changing using the value of the txt file.....
