Configuration Settings lost

Post by raewyn64 »

Hi all
I have had a weather station running for about 9 years now and use Cumulus. I have had my own website that I upload the data to.
2 days ago the data stopped on the website yet Cumulus was still going ok.
When I had a look last night I found that all my configuration settings had disappeared.
So I am trying to set them all back up again but for the life of me cannot remember what all my internet settings were.
Is there any files on my pc that might have what those settings were prior to this happening?
Or any suggestions?
Last night when I was trying to get it to work again when I did a manual web update the box that comes up showed it logged in ok and uploaded ok and then logged out. But it hasn't got to my web site.
I am using Weatherby You for my website if that is of any use.
Any suggestions please as to what I have forgotten?

Thanks so much - I am just a home user so don't get too technical :)

Hi,
Cumulus has all the settings, including FTP site and password, extra web files, etc., in the Cumulus.ini file which is in the \Cumulus folder.
If your settings are missing then possibly something happened to your Cumulus.ini file.
Do you have a backup of your full Cumulus folder from when it was working? If so open the Cumulus.ini from that backup and you'll find them under the [FTP Site] section.

Enjoy,
Paul

Internet settings should be in your cumulus.ini file from backup that previously worked.

I didn't think C1 took a backup of the Cumulus.ini file? I'm pretty sure I added it to CMX.
It would have to be restored from a user backup.

The statement in the Wiki url says your wrong Mark
All flavours of Cumulus (1, 2, and MX) create a sub-folder called backup. Within that is another sub-folder called daily.

Correct, Cumulus1 did not include the Cumulus.ini in its daily and restart backups.
I was glad when you added that in CumulusMX b3059 Mark

But it has often been reminded and stressed that the user should also make their own backups.

Enjoy,
Paul
