Cumulus b1099 Patch

Post by mcrossley »

I have created a patched version of Cumulus 1 build 1099 that allows the NOAA Reports and Snow Index dialogs to be used up to the year 2030.

Note: I do not have the source for this program so the patch is just the existing executable with the dialog resources edited to allow the extra years.

This is a "drop in" replacement for the existing executable. You need to have already installed Cumulus using the standard setup installer.
Make sure Cumulus is not running, then rename Cumulus.exe to something like Cumulus.exe.sav, and copy in the new patched version from the Downloads page in the Wiki.

The patched version will still show as "build 1099" in the web tags, as "10992" in the program version, and"1099.2" in the file version.

Hi Mark,

Thank you very much for this change. Although I rarely access NOAA data via the netbook the change will ensure Cumulus 1 will continue to function for another 10 years. I just need the same patch for me please!
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Thanks Mark.
I have installed the patch and all seems to be fine. Shows as version 10991 and pull-down menus to 2030.

I installed this patch and it was working fine...Then 3 times I saw that Cumulus had stopped.
The last time the patched cumulus.exe was completely gone. I checked and saw Malwarebytes had
3 times blocked the patched cumulus.exe and identified it as ransomeware. Not sure whether or not that is valid
but I've gone back to the original cumulus.exe file. This was on Windows 10 Pro 32-bit. Malwarebytes latest version.
This may be a false alert by Malwarebytes but I thought I would pass this info along.

I have submitted the downloaded patched cumulus.exe file at the Malwarebytes forum.

I have updated the patched version to add years up to 2030 for the View This Month, This Year dialogs.
Hopefully they will work OK, they do bring up blank entries for the correct dates at the moment.

Thanks Mark,
And also Weather Diary, Snow Index, NOAA Reports all go to 2030. And as an added feature This Period doesn't seem to end ;)

Enjoy,
Paul

Mark, Some thanks from me, too.
(Although in patch one, you could type in 2020 and subsequent years for those view options, it is far easier in patch 2 having them in drop down!)

I know I have started afresh with my weather station in a new location, but I am continuing with Cumulus 1. I do intend to swap to MX one day, now YOU have added so much extra functionality to it, but my priority is unpacking moving boxes, not trying unfamiliar software. It is like my web pages, most were written ten years ago, so they use old PHP and old MySQL versions, but I don't have skill to know what needs to change to rewrite them quickly for current versions.

Mark

Many thanks for doing this. I have installed and it seems to work fine, I guess the real proof will be in 2021. Like some of the other users, I might be asking you again in 2030.
