Restoring data to a new system

My trusty dedicated Windows 7 Cumulus PC has failed.

Fortunately, the hard drive is ok. I have the hard drive installed in a temporary PC right now.

I will have a new PC on order. What are the best steps to get the data transferred from the old hard drive (on the temporary PC) to the new hard drive on the new system?

I have 8 years of data that I'd like to transfer all contained within the C:\Cumulus folder.

Would you recommend that I stick with Windows 7 or is Windows 10 now preferred for Cumulus?

I would simply copy the entire Cumulus directory to the new PC. Doesn’t matter whether you use 7 or 10.

Wow, that is literally as simple as it could be!

Thanks!

Thanks Steve.

Everything worked just fine using this method:

Robocopy \\cumulus\c$\cumulus c:\cumulus /e /log:c:\temp\cumulus.txt
