Dayfile.txt errors

Post by Herefordian »

Hello, I inadvertently removed two lines of data from a Dayfile.txt for a specific date (Lines 176 and 178) after receiving an error message I didn't understand. I then stupidly clicked missing error button. Now two blank lines appear at 1 and 2 and the attachment shows further error messages. I have lost all my current months Rainfall and the year to date rainfall on the display.display. Can you help me? :groan:

Close Cumulus. Go to C:\Cumulus\ or wherever you installed Cumulus.

Look in the directory called Backups and within that the directory called Daily.

In the Daily folder open the backup that is for the day before you caused the error and open it e.g 20160123000000.

Copy all 8 files from that directory to C:\Cumulus\Data and overwrite your existing files in the Data directory.

Restart Cumulus and it will start from a point before the error and load data from your logger until the latest log item and all should be back to normal again.

Good suggestion from David, but unfortunately 'rewinding' using the backup files like that won't work with an Instromet station.

But you may still be able to use just dayfile.txt from the most recent backup, and have another go at correcting the errors. Or you could stop Cumulus and open the current dayfile.txt in notepad++, where the problem with the first two lines should be obvious - if not, attach dayfile.txt here and someone will be able to show you what to do.

But what about doing what I suggested?
stop Cumulus and open the current dayfile.txt in notepad++, where the problem with the first two lines should be obvious - if not, attach dayfile.txt here and someone will be able to show you what to do.
