Merge 2 data files

Post by JacquesD »

Hi,

Someone has started to use a new Template, in a new Cumulus installation.
Now, he want to merge data from these 2 installations, what is the best way?
(appending to dayfile.txt files is ok, but which others and records?)

Regards,
Jacques

Merge the monthly log files and dayfile.txt with a text editor, and then use the editors in Cumulus to rebuild all-time records etc.

Considering this at the moment.

My site has run MX on my VP2 since 29th Sept 2016.
Prior to that I had a Fine Offset Wh1080 that ran with Cumulus 1 from 13/07/2011 to 28/09/2016.

So merging them would give me 8 years of data.

Main issues are there are some rouge figures in the old data, -50° Minimums, 300+ km/h winds etc.
Presume I can filter for that in Excel before building the dayfile content to be amended & then check with the BOM etc to make sure I don't add in any all-time or monthly records that are invalid.

Other thing I wonder is whether I should also filter my old temps against the BOM.

With the VP2 I know the general offset between my VP2's site & the BOM station.
The fine offset did tend to read 1° higher than it should have but I could calc for that.

Anyone else done this sort of thing & what was the approach.

Only seeing one brief related thread here that doesn't cover much.

Cheers.
