Hi Steve,

May I get in on your MX pilot project. I have an R - pi I want to dust off, and retire this big XPSP3 box.

Running Davis VP2 station.

Thanks for all you do.

G'day Steve,

I'm in the process of building a new PC (Intel i5 based) and intend to run Linux Mint 17.1 on it, initially. I expect to be commissioning it in the next few weeks.

As a long-time user of Cumulus 1 (and past donor), serving my data to the web for the benefit of local wind-surfers, I would be very pleased to beta test the MX version on Linux. With an electronics engineering and programming background, I should be able to manage tricky installations/patches and detailed bug reporting.

I use a Davis Vantage Vue (metric) unit with a serial (COM) datalogger interface. We get 'good' winds here, with a maximum of 140kph being recorded a few times in the past several years, and over 100kph is an annual occurrence.

I'd be happy to make a further donation; indeed I'll do that right now! :-)

Hello Steve. I would like to apply. I would run it on it on Windows 8 and Raspbian using a WMR88 and in the New Year a WeatherDuino Pro2.
Thank you!

Hi Steve, this is exciting stuff, I've been looking forward to being able to run Cumulus on my Raspberry PI ever since I heard you were working on a new version.

Can you add me to your beta testing group please?

Current setup is Win7 starter + WMR88 on a netbook but would also want to try Raspbeery pi + WMR88 and also a FO WH1080.

Thanks,
James

Hi Steve,

I discovered that MX version is in its way! :D

I'm having a Pi, a spare console and some open routers waiting for (other) Linux projects!
... and Curious to see how it will be "skineable"!

So, I'm ready for a test drive if needed!

Best regards,
Jacques

Ok, I think I would be interested in trying this, but I have a few questions that I haven't seen answered. My biggest question is: I use StartWatch to start up all my programs, so that when I have to restart my computer, everything is automated. Would StartWatch be able to work with Cumulus 3? My next question is: I customized my website templates. Would I be able to keep my old templates, or would I have to go and customize each individual page for Cumulus 3? Also, does anyone have some screenshots of the web interface? I'd appreciate them, so I could decide if I think Cumulus 3 is something I would be interested in. I think these are all my questions for now, but if I think of more, I'll be sure to post them. Thanks in advance for any help.

Just for the record, my hardware:
Davis Vantage Vue
Windows Vista - would probably upgrade to Zorin OS (Linux) if I like Cumulus 3

If it can start command line programs, yes.

As I mentioned in the first post, if you have used any 'format' parameters you will probably have to change them for MX.
Also, does anyone have some screenshots of the web interface? I'd appreciate them, so I could decide if I think Cumulus 3 is something I would be interested in.
I would rather things like that were kept in the beta forum, while it is still in beta test. But the interface is completely customisable anyway, and some people have started doing that.

Thanks for the reply.
If it can start command line programs, yes.
I have no idea if it works with command line programs, so I will look into that.
As I mentioned in the first post, if you have used any 'format' parameters you will probably have to change them for MX.
What exactly is a format parameter? Either way, I believe the only things I added were visitor counters, and I might have changed a few words around, but I think that is it. So it sounds like my templates should work.

I don't have access to the beta forum, so I wouldn't be able to see them there. I guess I'll just have to wait until this is publicly available before I decide whether to commit to it or not. Thanks a lot for all the work you have put into Cumulus, and for helping here on the forum. I'm going to be sure to donate one of these days.
