davis vantage vue rain gauge problems

Post by novy »

Hi

been having rain gauge problems for a while now. its showing its raining randomly when its not raining messing with my data. ive checked and cleaned the rain gauge inside the davis it seems ok it pivots ok etc but still the console showing its raining but its not .
could this be a cumulus error ?
am using Cumulus MX 3.0.0 b3043 raspberry pi 3b.
or will it be the rain gauage in the transmitter davis unit ?

thanks

If you could zip up the contents of the MXdiags folder in your Cumulus installation and post them in a reply to this topic, that will give us something to look at to attempt diagnosis.

It might be a good idea to update to the latest release once you have this problem sorted.

If the console is showing it's raining all the time, then it is no surprise Cumulus is too!

I don't know what sort of sensor the Vue uses, but it could be a failing reed switch in the tipper mechanism.

well its not at present its rain rate at 0.0mm . it will do a spike again at some random time it keeps doing this
is it possible to disable all the rain data completely in cumulus i would be happy with that as everything else works. so as it does not send rain data online .

Sorry, it's not possible to just disable the rain data.
It sounds like you need to talk to a Davis supplier about replacing some hardware.

depends on how old/new your Vue is. older models you can replace internals. New models you cant.

speak with prodata (John Dann), he should be able to help.
