Manually adding data - Temperature

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Manually adding data - Temperature

Post by geoffw »

What is the best way to entering the data and time of the maximum & minimum temperatures for the previous day. Currently I am editing the Dayfile text through the control panel and the drop down menu. If this is the correct procedure do I have to turn off Cumulus when I do this.

My temperature sensor has failed and I am awaking a new weather station so this might go on for another week or two.

If you turn Cumulus off then editing this way will not work, as it requires Cumulus to be running.

In the earlier Cumulus we were always advised to turn of Cumulus before messing with the data files

I am doing it correctly, though when I look at the daily temperature chart is isn't registering my edits.

That is because you have to wait for the json files to be generated with the new data.

If you want to see this immediately after saving the data, stop and restart Cumulus MX and the data will be refreshed.

Also I see that Mark added this in Build 3099 "New: FTP Now - Adds a new option to regenerate the daily graph data files (if enabled), and include them in the manually invoked FTP session" which means if you set the option the json files will regenerate when running FTP Now. This would mean you could leave MX running and just do a FTP Now.

Yes, but that advice was for if you were directly editing the data files. In this case, you appear to be doing the edits through the interface drop-down menu, and that requires Cumulus to be running.
