The Cumulus Wiki is now hosting the latest Cumulus version of Home Weather Station template with Brian's kind permission.

The listing also appears in the Web Tools section with other Cumulus templates.

Hello Ken,

Thanks for doing this. I maintain the weeWX version of the template which is actually based on the Cumulus version. The weeWX extension CRT is used to generate realtime.txt and the weeWX database to generate charts.

Just one small point, could you correct my surname, it is Millard not Milward (it’s a typo on Brian’s web page).

Many thanks,
Ian

All done Ian -- thanks for letting me know. I corrected the Wiki at https://cumuluswiki.wxforum.net/a/HomeW ... onTemplate and also the README.md on the new distribution point at https://github.com/ktrue/CU-HWS

I did a quick learning job on GitHub this morning and now have a local master and the GitHub master available for future maintenance.

I'm having issues with forecast and current condition widgets. Even providing a valid darksky API secret (triple checked) weather forecast and current condition still remain both empty
Any idea/suggestion how solving the issue?
Many thanks

Hi Fabio,
I need the URL to your weather website showing the issues to do a diagnosis.

DarkSky (in jsondata/darksky.txt ) is reporting
{"code":400,"error":"An invalid lang parameter was provided."}
Is your language setting for DarkSky in easyweathersetup.php set to 'it' (for Italian)?

As for the current conditions, jsondata/metar34.txt shows
{"results":1,"data":["LIQB METAR Currently Unavailable"]}
so you may need to pick another METAR station than LIQB to have the data show.

Hope this helps...

I've just installed the latest Cumulus version.

I'm getting a notification for 'heat index caution' despite the setting of it being 30.

Well, that's an odd one. I haven't been through the code for the notifications.php script, but will take a look.

Meanwhile, I've been doing some editing (in a test site) to improve the language switching functionality (so DarkSky forecasts can be in the appropriate language when the user clicks on a different language), and some refactoring in the easyweathersetup script to simplify the setup a bit.

I'll post in the GitHub distribution when I've finished. I''ve also welcomed MatsA as a code contributor to the CU-HWS distribution :clap:

Ahh.. that was an easy one to fix .. edit barometer.php and change

Code: Select all

 if(anyToC($notifications=='yes' && $weather["heat_index"])>=30){?>
to

Code: Select all

 if($notifications=='yes' && anyToC($weather["heat_index"])>=30){?>
I'll update the CU-HWS distribution with that fix.

hello crap news unfortunately

from the WU rep "No.there will be no XML access" the XML data feed for historical will end or expected to end at the same time as the now API extended shut down has been pushed back to the date 15th February 2019 .as with anything wunderground information is scarce and certainly no solid info on new API apart from it offers a limited solution to current one however probably enough sufficient data for this template to use as there is no real focus on masses of data .

What remains to be resolved is providing a sufficient and relatively easy solution for everyone to be able to setup a mysql database.
*note users some have many years of experience some have limited and some have no experience so its important not to take things for granted and expect everyone to be an expert "or coin the phrase it works for me so its ok" and try to find a method that works for everyone and it is understandable to learn from..shared hosting services are a mix and match and some don't conform to the default expectations ..

biggest problem or common problem i have seen meteobridge users has been user privileges when dealing with shared hosting database access most allow you to read a database but disable or dont grant privileges to write to database by default..

so in short charts will according to above will no longer update ...only time will tell ...brian

Hi Brian,
I'd not seen any of that on the WU API list. That is bad news indeed.

Their upcoming PWS owner API docs does include JSON queries for PWS historical data, so that is what they may be converting to.

Their announced shutoff of the old API on 15-Feb-2019 is (IMHO) not likely to happen then as they have yet to offer new API keys or a mechanism to obtain the new keys. We're at 1 month from shutdown, and everyone is saying 'where are the keys' so we can't convert code without having access to the new API.

I'm following closely the discussions on the WU API thread, and have been in contact via email with Victoria (official rep) multiple times. As soon as API keys are available, I'll see what can be done with our scripts.

Best regards,
Ken
