hi ken

it was victoria who quoted the "XML feed will be discontinued" ..somewhere in that forum in a recent post i had to read it twice to make sure ,just tried to find it again but wading through the noise i couldn't find it after 10 minutes ..
the new API looks pretty easy to work with lets hope station historical data is easy to adapt too but current structure of charts read a simple csv output so if it is in a json format then needs some changes unfortunately....

Hi,
Excuse my ignorance but can this template be used with the local host cumulusMX interface?
Or does it require your own website?
TIA!

The CumulusMX local host is HTML/JavaScript/CSS only. The HWS template requires PHP (in addition to HTML/JavaScript/CSS).

You can install an XAMPP local server on the same system running CumulusMX and host the HWS locally (I wouldn't recommend exposing the XAMPP server to the internet however.. It is not specifically secured enough for that). https://www.apachefriends.org/ for XAMPP .. that runs on a Win/PC, Linux or OSx/MAC systems.

Thanks for clearing that up Ken.
I really like the HWS template, looks fantastic!
I hope to get around to tackling my own website in the future just not sure how to go about it.
Off topic but is there a guide to do this? Whom to use for web hosting etc.
Many Thanks.

Hey all

Been a LONG time since ive been on here, and really done anything with Cumulus, so really outta the knowledge now.

I dont know if I have done the right thing, ive thrown myself in at the deep end, and decided to have a go at this template first, but I think ive stuffed up somewhere, I uploaded all the files to my hosting, tried to do some configuring in the easyweathersetup.php but i am lost, and the site looks broken. If someone has the kind patience to help me out a little it would be appreciated, thank you.

Sure.. I think it's a simple matter of using easyweathersetup.php to correct the livedata source:

Currently you have it as /realtime.txt
Set it to just realtime.txt and it should work.

The / means it is looking for the realtime.txt file in the root of the filesystem (and it's not there :) )

Hi, I have done that, but still no data, is it just me being too ambitious and should go for a simpler template?

Hi,
Would you have a URL for this template to look at?

Enjoy,
Paul

Now it looks like you have the realtime set to 'demodata/realtime.txt' instead of 'realtime.txt'.

Use easyweathersetup.php to correct that.

Hi All,

So I took the plunge and got a webhost and domain.
I am most certainly new to all of this! I have managed to get filezilla working and now have the template visible on my web page. (norawx.com)
Now I am a little confused whether i have done this correctly or not..
Does the template have to be in the root folder public_html? This seemed to have worked.
Now I have tried to configure the settings in cumulus 1.9.4 and I seem to be seeing all the cumulus files in the directory root with the template files, realtime.txt included.
But I am still not seeing any change on my web page?
I have done the easyweathersetup and used Your Path to data file cp162172.hpdns.net/public_html/realtime.txt . Is that be correct?
Any help would be much appreciated!!
