error [object Object]

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

error [object Object]

Post by G6GUH »

Hi,
I am getting the message "error [object Object]" after changing a parameter on CumulusMX v 3050. I am using a raspberry pi3. If I manually edit the ini file and save it appears to accept the changes but nothing changes when MX is rebooted and if I go back to the ini file the change did not actually change.
has anybody come across this before?

Pete

Posting your MXDiags would help diagnose the issue.

Sounds like you're manually editing the ini while Cumulus is still running.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have tried both using the MX dashboard way and closing MX down and editing the ini file that way, neither seem to work but I will try again tomorrow and also post the mxdiag file. I can see nothing obvious in the file but may have missed something.

thanks both

Sorry, I was unclear with my earlier reply. I was referring to the fact that your manually edited changes to the ini disappearing is a symptom that Cumulus was still running when you edited it. Cumulus writes all its current settings to the ini file when you shut down the application.

I didn't mean to suggest that the error object message was a symptom of the above para.

Apologies for any confusion.

Ok an update
I had setup the pi to start Cumulus automatically but even if I remove the start file completely Cumulus starts up anyway. When I edit the file with sudo ctontab and completely remove that script it still boots to MX. Could there be two copies and the wrong one is being edited. I am a a loss now so I think as I have a brand new sd card I will start up from scratch with a complete new install.

Will update when I have done the new install, probably at the weekend

PS drags file shows nothing out of the ordinary
