CMX desktop question

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

CMX desktop question

Post by ruggb »

I'm confused, well, you already know that.
windows 10 v1809 b17763.437
I just installed CMX v3 b3048 == copied CumulusMX folder to C:\
I have v1.9.4 b1099 in another folder.
I copied the ini file and the backup folder to the MX folder.
run MX as admin and it starts up in a CMD window.

Cumulus MX v.3.0.0 build 3048

Cumulus running at: http://*:8998/
(Replace * with any IP address on this machine, or localhost)

Normal running

No Cumulus window as in V1. If I close the CMD window it closes Cumulus. No system tray icon.
How do I get the window? and have it run in the background?
what did I miss?

Cumulus running at: http://*:8998/
(Replace * with any IP address on this machine, or localhost)
In a new browser enter your local IP ending with :8998 as indicated in the message that will get you the new console and all the setting options.
You stop CumulusMX program by <ctrl>C as noted but can leave it running from the command screen just like letting Cumulus 1 run, forever... :D

Unless you don't want to use the data from Cumulus 1, you can also copy in the data folder as well.

Enjoy,
Paul

thanks Paul
So with this version I must leave the CMD window open and use my browser for a desktop.
Will it ever get back to the UI of ver 1? I like that a lot better.

It is showing my previous data but does not seem to be talking to the Vue.
It shows no time for the last station update.
There is no data shown for today and the vue time has not been synced.

Yes, the CumulusMX program runs in the background (you can hide it from view by going to any other program or url). You can access it from any computer/device on your local network.

The interface is not like Cumulus 1 and it can be modified in a similar way that a webpage can be developed. But sorry, how to do that is beyond me.

Just like Cumulus 1, you can run only one program at the same to access the data logger, so either Cumulus 1 or CumulusMX. You can stop one and run the other anytime you want.

Your previous attachment shows it was connected and running normally. Have you checked the MXdiags file for any clues? Are all the station settings correct?

Enjoy,
Paul

I have a lot of lines of this in the diag file

2019-04-13 20:00:41.750 !!! VP2 Not woken
2019-04-13 20:00:43.286 !!! No ack received in response to LOOP 50

don't know what it is trying to tell me. If it is looking for a VP2, as in Vantage Pro 2, that is a problem cause it is a Vue.
But the selection is Vantage Pro2/Vue.????????

I just copied the v1.9.4 file for the settings

1.9.4 still works fine

Did you edit the Cumulus.ini file from v1 as per the instructions?

Check that first, then zip up and attach your diags folder.

Yes, I did modify the ini file but none of the mods said anything about LOOP 50.

It appears to be working now. Last night I shut MX down and opened V 1.9.4.
I closed v1.9.4 it this AM and opened MX and MX is working.

I do have some of this in the diag file

but everything seems to be functioning now.
maybe 1.9.4 reset something in the Vue that MX couldn't/doesn't handle.

Loop data may not be received for a number of reason, normally it is because the console is busy doing something else - it has limited processing power - such as displaying config screens, setting the date/time etc.
