Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

New hosting service for CumulusMX web files

Post by pete_c »

Here have been using one ISP personal web pages for two weather stations for many years now.

It was very basic (no PHP or other add ons) and worked fine.

The personal web pages was shut off by the ISP last week.

I have read here that some host services do not allow text files to be uploaded.

This piece is not working right now with one host web service.

The odd thing is that if I use Filezilla in Wintel or Linux I have no issues copying (FTPing) text files.

All of the rest of the files copy fine. I can also change txt files to html files and they copy fine using Cumulus.

I have a ticket open with the hosting service right now relating to said issue.

Should I just move on to testing another host service?

In my experience, hosting which doesn't allow .txt files does allow them to be uploaded by ftp, but won't serve them via http. What does the ftp log show?

pete_c,

I see you are in Longboat Key. I am in Sebring about 95 miles away. You also show IL. So you must be a "snow bird" :)

Hello Sperry,

Been back and forth since the 1970's (always LBK) and still cannot figure out what I want to be when I grow up/ grow old.
