Cumulus MX can't recover after internet faillure

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Cumulus MX can't recover after internet faillure

Post by rstrader »

My DSL went down late yesterday morning and I didn't check my station submissions until after work today. I don't know if this is something that MX might be made to recover from without requiring a manual restart. If not, it's not a panic, but would be nice if it could gracefully recover.

I am missing the moon phase images.

Great work. Thank you.

I think it might be difficult for Steve to write code to discover that DSL has gone down, after all an Internet outage, Server down etc. would probably present the same symptoms to FTP. Easiest thing is to stop MX recover the Data from the last Daily Backup by copying the 7 files from the backup\daily directory over the existing files in the Data directory and then restart MX.

As to the Moon Phases see here https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13902

Thanks. I was something I totally wasn't prepared for. Could be as much a Windows Server 2012 issue. Knowledge is power! I'll get right on the server when this happens in the future. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have found that MX on my Pi always recovers very happily, as soon as the Internet comes back on line.

My ADSL goes down briefly from time to time, and MX always recovers (as in - it restarts uploading to the internet automatically).

It depends on Network settings if it will fix itself.

I had the same issue until I set a static IP address and DNS servers other than my Router's DNS Masq DNS server. (Something like Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or OpenDNS). Since then, no issues. Something funny my routers did while redirecting traffic to a error page would screw up my Pi/CumulusMX. I also turned this redirect "internet out" notice off as well at the same time, so could have been either or.
