Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Fine Offset - Indoor Temperature

Post by WoodburyMan »

I have an odd error. CumulusMX is reporting my Indoor Temperatures for my Fine Offset in Celsius, where everything in my case should be in Fahrenheit. It shows up under "Now" on the web interface, in addition to the log/data files it's all being recorded this way. Switching back to Cumulus 1.x, indoor temperature reads fine. I even reset my receiver to clear our any old data just in case. It's reading and saying 21.1C, which converted in 69.98, and my station is display 70.0F now.

I am running 3006 now. Thursday I ran 3002 for ~6 hours, copying over my 1.x data. It ran fine and it showed up and recorded correctly. I copied the data back to my 1.x install, ran it for 2.5 days, and just copied my data back and running it with 3006, and this started. For fun, I reloaded the 3002 contents to my CumulusMX folder, and still get the Celsius readings.

Steve

I also noted my FineOffset station, every time I relaunch CumulusMX, in my datafile it puts a new entry with the current date and time with every value it normally reads from the console at 0. When I launch CumulusMX, just like Cumulus 1.x, for the first maybe 10-15 seconds until the software gets an update from the Console it reads 0. Cumulus 1.x used to ignore this data and not record it, waiting until it gets the first set of data. CumulusMX doesn't seem to be doing this.

Cumulus 1 checks that outdoor temperature and pressure have been received, which can be overriden with the NoSensorCheck setting. MX doesn't do this because I want to allow the sensors which are actually present to be configured so that it works if sensors are missing. I suppose that until I get around to doing that, I could put the same check in.

Thanks Steve!

It is truly amazing how much work, thought, and logic you put into 1.x, and how much work you are putting into CumulusMX. There are so many little tidbits like this and other functions we all take for granted.
