Template Help

Post by Kafinater »

So, I now have access to my Virginmedia web space and need to upload all this lovely data to it. I have just recently discovered Weatherbyyou templates and downloaded the Weather Sky template. I thought I had followed all the instructions but I must have done something wrong.

I've tried to upload to my web space using an ftp uploader and according to that it was successful but all it displays is this message "Parse error: parse error, unexpected ':' in /tier-11/pwpstore5/49/majorincident/htdocs/wt_data_inc.php on line 343"

Is it to do with Cumulus set up? Or have I done something wrong in the configuration of the template...or Cumulus?

Any suggestions please?

Silly question, but I will ask it, does Virginmedia webspace support the use of PHP as a lot of free webspace providers do not.

If it does is it the right version?

It is not a Cumulus problem, but a fault with the php code in the module indicated at the line indicated. Usually a parse problem is caused by the code lacking a ; at the end of the previous php line.

Right it took me a while but I finally found the Prerequisites for Weather Sky and I am afraid it is bad news :

Prerequisite:
Php v5.x+
Javascript
Cumulus v1.9.2+

So your PHP on the VirginMedia site is not the right level. PHP 5 has been available for some years (I think since 2004) so they are a little bit behind the curve!!
I guess you could ask them if they intend to upgrade. While you at it you might want to ask about Javascript, but I am not sure if Weather Sky uses Server side or Client side Javascript.

Why don't you start with Cumulus standard web site files that you get with the product, they will get you up and running with a web site and as they are pure html you should have no problem.

The web setup was installed when you in installed Cumulus on your computer and the instructions on how to do it are here. http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Website_setup

I would suggest getting either putting this in a different directory or removing Weather Blue from you web site so any leftover code does not cause conflicts.
