Hi all,

Jacques is aware of this, but I have come across and issue with the template "gauges" page when using a netbook to run Cumulus. The 3 gauges that are supplied from some sort of screen scrape are out of place - not sure what the fix will be other than A) changing PC's or B) going to Steel Series gauges. Steve - any thoughts?

Here is the current page showing the problem;

Yes, it's because they are simply grabs of the components in Cumulus, so how they appear depends on the screen resolution etc. I'm afraid I don't have a solution other than not using them. Can they be explicitly resized in the html, perhaps?

Cheers Steve, I'll have a poke around in the code and see what I can find. :D

Well, I think I am about done with everything that I am going to do with it.

Here it is with the second nav bar with a few external links and also a link to the NOAA Style reports.

All external links are also my sites and they have links back to the weather site.

Your gauges page is missing the additional nav bar, and there are 'alternative' chatacters in the NOAA reports page'

eg. Template by Mto du Qubec

Did you edit / save it in the wrong format ?

Thank You JacquesD :D

beteljuice,
Yes, the additional nav bar is missing from the gauges page on purpose. Thank You for noticing and trying to help. But I finally gave up on trying to place it on that page because everytime I did it would break the template and look really really bad. No matter how I tried to fix it, it would look bad in another way. So I finally gave up and left it with out the second nav bar.

That is odd on what you are seeing on the NOAA Style reports page. The below is what I see using IE 8, FireFox, and Google Chrome:

XHTML | CSS | Weather Blues Template by Météo du Québec

It looks like your browser may not be displaying the e's with the hash marks over them properly.

Just had a play, as I've seen this before when people have modified these templates. (Plus an increasing number of 'major' sites).

Using your NOAA reports page:

Notepad++ reports it as "ANSI as UTF-8"

But in the header it wants to declare itself as iso8559-1

(The other pages are the same, HOWEVER;)

Using Notepad++ to convert to (and save as) ANSI allows it to 'obey' the iso8559-1 header and all characters display correctly.

I downloaded and installed notepad++

Opened the noaareports.php in Notepad++

Used to coversion to convert to ANSI

saved as noaareports.php to over write it.

Uploaded it to the site overwriting the old noaareports.php

Did that fix it? Did I do it right?

Still looks the same to me - most odd !

Just tried the same sequence: convert to ANSI => Save, and it fixes it.

PS: Noticed you've got your extra nav bar in.

I wonder if I change it in the header to UTF-8 if that will fix it?

The only page that does not have the secondary Nav bar is the gauges page. I could never get that page to look right with it in there.

Or maybe I will just whack it and change all the e' to regular e's. :)
