New question.

Another member of this forum, Kapo, managed to apply the translation system to Davis weather forecast. He tells me that only added to the "LL.txt-language" file (in his case the Finnish language - language-fi.txt), the various weather forecasts of Davis, as in this example:

Code: Select all

langlookup|Mostly clear with little temperature change|Enimmäkseen selkeää pienin lämpötilamuutoksin.|
I've tried doing the same but there was no translation. However the rest of the translation template function perfectly. Any idea?

This are the Davis Weathe Forecas Strings:

Must be some detail that is escaping me, but I do not see which one...

Can you please help me understand this!?

Thank you very much again.

In the absence of Ken,

Have you changed the;

Code: Select all

. ucfirst($vpforecasttext) .
in ajax-dashboard.php to

Code: Select all

. langtransstr($vpforecasttext) .
or

Code: Select all

. ucfirst(langtransstr($vpforecasttext)) .
I don't have any translations set up but the last of these does not generate any errors.
You probably won't need the ucfirst if your translation is already capitalised.

Just wondering if these translations should be in plaintext-parser-lang-LL.txt instead ?
Perhaps further info/confirmation from Kapo might help.

It works!!!

It seemed to me that I had already tried this, but must not have this way..
What is certain is that it is working BCJKiwi! I am using:

Code: Select all

. langtransstr($vpforecasttext) .
The "plaintext-parser-lang-LL.tx" is only for the WXSIM forecast from what I know.
Kapo still not contacted me, but certainly that is what he has changed and he must have forgotten to give me that information. Tomorrow he should me confirm this information.

Thank you so much for this light at the end of the tunnel.

Regards from Portugal! :D
Kind Regards, Manuel.

I think I have a more generalized solution to the translation issue here .. it uses the fewest number of separate langlookup entries needed :)

Hi Ken and BCJ,
Sorry for coming back late but had to go out and cheer the local hockey team on to victory and win their current playoff series.

I attempted to do this as much by myself as possible and made a couple of mistakes. I hadn't uploaded the radar folder as all I had seen in it was a "readme" but have now uploaded  . Now the Local Radar does its time countdown but no images, nor any image in Home. If I could find where
Quote:

<img src="/radar/radar-NAT-0.png" path.
might be located I could check it and edit.
I have had several attempts to make this new install work but finally have given up. Have instead used the Forwarding and Masking method so that http://www.komokaweather.ca uses the working www. komokaweather.com/wxindex.php in the root and that is masked.

Ken, can you add http://www.komokaweather.ca to your wx-template users list?

Now on to getting the ss-gauges to work, if that is possible?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions

Hi Paul,

You're very welcome.. sorry it wouldn't work out quite to your liking with your hosters available settings.
I have added your site to the list :)

Yes, the Steel Series gauges work fine with Cumulus.
You will need to upload an additional file to your site (realtimegauges.txt) via Cumulus with the data needed by the gauges.

See: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/SteelSeries_Gauges for details and to download the gauges.

You already have wxssgauges.php in your updated template so after you install and customize the gauges, they should
be visible at http://www.komokaweather.ca/wxssgauges.php

Best regards,
Ken

Ken, Manuel
Have taken Ken's new script mods and tested them in English (with substituted junk data for the translated language).
Have attached the language-en.txt vpforecast section in Lower case. see updated file in later post(s)
Cross checked this against Manuel's Lower Case list above and corrected a duplication and omission in Ken's list ;) .
The list is now sorted (much simpler to find variations in this list).

Current VPforecast on my test webserver as delivered by Cumulus is;
Increasing clouds and warmer. Precipitation possible within 12 to 24 hours Windy.
Note there is no '.' after hours.
It seems this string does not get translated. I am assuming this is due to the missing '.' and the forecast is treated as 2 strings instead of 3.
Ken, if I read your function correctly it splits the incoming forecast into separate strings on the '.' and after processing adds a '.' to the end of each sentence.
So presumably Steve will need to fix the tag that is being produced as it is missing the '.' - assuming it is not an issue in my Vantage Vue!

Hi Ken,
I have had ssgauges (v. 2.1.0) working in the .com site as part of the Cumulus templates for a couple months. I downloaded a new set (v.2.2.2) and placed them in the root folder, where all the wx-template files are, and have it working http://www.komokaweather.com/wxssgauges.php and have it in the Almanac. A couple of minor issues to resolve
1. Timer first digit is outside of the box and not visible (I have it set as 30)
2. If I set showWindRose as 'true' then the images don't show and counter doesn't count down

As these are likely not wx-template issues I will post on the SteelSeries Gauges thread.

Again a lot learned and thanks for your guidance,
Paul

Cumulus doesn't produce the text for the forecasts, it reads them from the Davis Vantagepro.dll.

Brian, might it be that the string you are referring to is not in the 'VP_language-en.txt' file you have posted in the thread (nor is it found in the language text posted by Ken True)... ;)

You have to remember that translation is only possible if the string to be translated is identical to the string found in the language file.

Although I have not translated the english entries to french, my old Vantage Pro2 forecast rule language template as at least twice as many entries/lines/rules/strings available for translation (96 non-duplicate entries out of a possible 197 rules generated by the Vantage Pro2 console) ... including 'Increasing clouds and warmer. Precipitation possible within 6 to 12 hours. Windy.' ;)

Steve, Ray,
I thought I had been quite clear and specific in my post but seemingly not so here goes again.
I fully understand what you are trying to tell me - already knew that.

Ray, Ken's function is specifically to avoid the requirement of all the multifarious various combos and parses out the unique sentences that make up all the different forecasts - that's why the list is much shorter.

The point of the post is that the forecast string in question being delivered by Cumulus does not match the strings as specified by Davis.

So the questions are;
1. does the Vantage Vue deliver a string that is different from the Davis spec?
2. does Cumulus faithfully deliver the strings that Davis delivers?

As the Davis strings appear not to have any '.'s and are all shown as UPPER CASE, I presume Cumulus is doing some formatting as the Tag content is formatted as Cap first lower case and full stop per sentence except for 'Precipitation possible within 12 to 24 hours' which is missing the '.'
So while a special extra sentence of 'Precipitation possible within 12 to 24 hours Windy.' could be added, it hardly seems the appropriate way to fix the problem.

Hence the request for clarification on where the mismatch is for this (and maybe other) sentences.

I thought I had been quite clear and specific in my post, but apparently not.

Cumulus gets the forecast strings from the Davis Vantagepro.dll. It doesn't do any formatting, processing, modifying or anything else. It reports the strings exactly as they are supplied.

Note that the Davis console communication protocol does not provide for reading the text of the forecasts from the console, only the 'rule number'.

From looking at the WIKI for SS from v.2.2.0 the following was added
Added file gauges-ss-basic-inc.php Provides a page to integrate with Ken True's popular Saratoga web site templates

Update gauges-ssT.htm, gauges-ss-basic.htm, gauges-ss-basic-inc.php All gauge sizes (width/height) now replaced with class="gaugeSizeStd"
Amended the status LCD panel and timer LCD panel sizes to match sizes previously set in the gauges.js script
Changed rose script from RGraph.radar.min.js to RGraph.radar.min.js
However this file does not appear to be on my computer after the current wx-template set downloads so I would not have uploaded it to my site.

Did I miss doing something again?

Re: Now available: AJAX/PHP multilingual website templates

The gauges-ss-basic-inc.php page is included with Mark's distribution starting at the 2.2.0 version. It is not included with the CU-plugin.zip (or the Base-*.zip) for the AJAX/PHP templates .. it is only in the Steel-Series Gauges distribution.
