realtime.txt not updating (& Toolbox not knowing about it)

The last few days I've noticed that my realtime.txt file is not updating quite often. The toolbox add-on also usually identifies this on the rare occasion it's happened in the past, but now it seems not to, or at least several hours can pass before it realises and notifies me.

What could be the cause of this? I have no error messages on the error thingy in Cumulus.

I currently have only one of my own webpages at a realtime update frequency (20seconds), and I've noticed that sometimes realtime.txt has updated but my webpage doesn't display that current data. All the other webpages that update every 10 minutes seem to be working OK

Shutting down and restarting Cumulus seems to fix this.

Turn on ftp logging (delete the old ftplog.txt and realtimeftplog.txt files first), and when the problem occurs, look at the realtimeftplog.txt file.

Are you using the Cumulus Realtime App or something you wrote yourself? (you do not have a link to your website so I can not see).

I'm just wondering if your webserver is caching the realtime.txt file

Just the realtime application *link* and I use it for Weather Console *link* also.

The other webpage *link* I have doesn't use the realtime.txt file but is supposed to be updating at the realtime interval (checked box in internet settings>files tab), I only recently enabled this but I'm now having a lot of trouble with it.

If you use a web browser to check the raw realtime file on the web server it appears not to be updating

So either Cumulus is having trouble FTPing it to the server, or your web server is caching the file

As Steve has noted, you need to turn on FTP logging in Cumulus so we can see what is going on.

Have done this, the files were very large before I deleted them, will check it out.

I notice now I am back home that my realtime file hasn't updated since 19:12:57, and it's now after 10:30pm.

Yes, I just restarted Cumulus, we'll wait and see.

OK, it hasn't appeared to happen yet but will include my current realtimeftplog and ftplog so you can see if anything is going awry or whatever currently:

Also in that zip file is a small excerpt of my realtimelog.txt file (generated by toolbox) that shows the last time it appeared to stop tonight, clearly it looks as if the realtime file wasn't being generated? Still toolbox never noticed there was a problem with it updating though as the check is supposed to do.

It then keeps trying to re-establish the connection, but the server seems to not want to play:

OK, but my normal web updates (10 minutes) still work. So what's going on there?

Will this realtime upload failure also affect any other files I've chosen to process & update at that realtime interval?

How many times is it set to re-try before it gives up, and is there any way to change this?

And why does it right itself when I restart Cumulus?

It does look as though it's actually the ftp component which is unable to connect; otherwise I would expect to see the logging of the connect attempts in the ftp log.

You appear to have set active ftp mode for some reason; your ftp server is suggesting that you use passive mode:

I did that, and after 24 hours it seems to be working OK so far...

OK, it stopped working again last night. Any ideas as to why it doesn't reattempt to update these realtime interval files?

Also I still don't understand why the toolbox application is not recognising that the realtime.txt file is not uploading - or does it only see if the file has updated in the Cumulus folder?
