Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Well, a bit of a hiccup but we're back on track again. I can give a release date now and I hope to have got everything ironed out by August 31st so that's when Stllflick V1.0 will be released!

Rob, you are the only one to get back 'onboard' and 'ontrack' of the proverbial 'Stllflick' development train...

Just a quick thought, will it have the 'extravars' option that Yawcam does, to imprint the weather data onto the picture? just a question more than a request?

Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Rob, Stllflick will be used to convert webcam captured still images to a movie file, nothing similar to the Yawcam software, more a complement to the Yawcam software - and do you really want to have those movies covered with old weather information?

Rob, I cannot 'picture' (imagine) myself looking at the one year movie with weather information streaming at such a very high speed - just an annoying blur...

Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Ray is right, it is more of a compliment to rather than a replacement of Yawcam. Yawcam is perfectly capable or overlaying that sort of info onto each image so the functionality exists now. Having said that I am already thinking about what I would want in Stillflick V2....

How can I argue with that logicgemini06720 wrote:Rob, you are the only one to get back 'onboard' and 'ontrack' of the proverbial 'Stllflick' development train...

Rob, come on, immediately stop that nonsense thinking!magusperde wrote:...I am already thinking about what I would want in Stillflick V2....
If you are already thinking of improvements for version 2 then, you should include those version 2 'thinking about' improvements into the not yet released version 1 - there are no reasons, none, to have us 'salivating' any longer (my mouth ran dry days ago)...

Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Ah yes, I can see how that would seem appealing but one of the reasons it's already so behind schedule is that I keep thinking of things to add. Ultimately I just want it simple so it will do what I want and you have a draw a line in the sand somewhere just so that you can move on...

Rob, the high tide is moving in ... that line in the sand might be washed away...magusperde wrote:...Ultimately I just want it simple so it will do what I want and you have a draw a line in the sand somewhere just so that you can move on...
Rob, I understand (as in comprehend) you perfectly...

Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Oh dear - I've lost my coder
But I have a new one already!
The bad news is that V1.0 was literally days away from launch and now I'm (almost) back to square one. Still, if you're collecting those daily webcam images and storing them away, keep doing it. In relatively short order, Stillflick will be ready and you'll be wanting to stitch those images together pronto

Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Sorry, not really no. It's not dead, it is still very much active and alive but I've been a bit overtaken by family things at the moment. I'm hoping to get it out in a few weeks but I also lost my second coder on this project and have had to go back to the start yet again

Re: Developing new software - here comes Stillflick
Just a heads up that Weather Underground automatically makes movies from your uploaded webcam images.
Here's a sample one http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/mon ... 012017.flv
Also I wonder how VLC player gets away with supplying H264 codec freely.
I'm hoping that down the track, this new software will be a yawcam replacement as I have a few issues with it
