recommend software for IP camera??? stills and time lapse...

I like to sort all the software before I purchase the hardware!!!
I'm looking at a foscam FI9805W which is able to do ftp.
so I was planning to use the IP camera to upload a still direct to my website every 30mins.
now what software is recommended to do the time lapse stuff???
I have a media centre running the cumulus stuff, but I don't want to use resources on that too much. I have a NAS drive with ftp as well.
I need something automatic and easy to use/setup.

the other option would be. use the IP camera to take still every 30 seconds and send to the NAS via ftp and have some type of app to update a single image every 30mins to the website, then another app to stitch all the videos together for the time lapse on the media centre in its quite time.

it just seems so hard!!!!!

There are loads, I use CandyLabs VidoeVelocity for example but there are lots to choose from. Start with Google and the perhaps get some ratings from forum users...

I use yawcam and make timelapses every night with ffmpeg from stored images with batchfiles (mp4 h264 html5 standard )and have contacam (freeware running the latest makes timelapses every night in flv format) template mp4 ( in progress on homeserver) http://editspace.sytes.net/movie/ (camera is foscam F8904W) this cam produces mjpeg movies that are not suitable for most browsers the F8905W produces mp4 I think..

Sure it makes mp4 h264 movies, otherwise forget it on portable devices flash is going down soon, people dont want to activate plugins like quicktime, java andso-on.

Don't understand this comment when all you are saving a still .jpg locally and updating it to his server every 30mins as per his original post. It does this and motion sensing perfectly and has a scheduling tool to stop it running at night if required.

This comment was only meant for the (timelapse)movies ofcourse jpg stills should be seen on/in evry browser. I commented about the movies because there was a question about making timelapses. Edit ther shoud be a questionmark in my previous comment ergo 'sure it makes mp4 h264 movies ? '

I also am in the 'Sebectec' crowd.

It overlays my images with the timestamp, temp, rain, wind.
Handles uploading my images to the server.
Creates a Thumbnail of the current image and uploads it.
Allows an 'intraday' video to be created and uploaded hourly(or what ever time set you choose)
Makes a video at the end of the day and uploads it.
Neatly stores pics and videos on my computer.
Can use the stored pics to make a 'week' long video or a monthly video if you keep the pics that long.
Doesn't require two 'instances' running to handle another camera like some I tested did

I've never had to contact the owner of the software because it's simple enough to set up, but I hear he's quick to help if problems arise...

playing with VidoeVelocity at the moment on a pc with a Logitech pro 9000.
set to capture every 30 seconds and playback 5 frames a second and camera resolution set to 640x480.
is that about right???

this test setup won't be used for outdoors!!

The advantage of this method is that it is fully automated and can always display the last XX hours (24 in my case).

I also use YAWCAM to collect, overlay weather details and ftp the images.

Sorry but as mentioned lately by much users it's flash i andere a lot more people will not see this ATM i use an Android tablet and get a message , plugin nog supported. i better not mention the I-users
