It works - 15 meter powered USB repeater cable a complete success.
Here is one running a Microsoft LifeCam Studio at 800 X 600 resolution - stills and stream. New home rules ( not allowed on the roof anymore - its an age thing) required a new camera location much further away from the server than a standard USB cable could reach. The one I am using came from Cablematic via Pixmania (Spain) and is available also in 20 and 25 meters. No drivers required - just plug it in and go.

Re: 15 meter USB
I've recently bought a waterproof 15m endoscope USB cam with 4 LEDs for use as a PondCam...works great, but doesn't focus very far

Re: 15 meter USB
I have been using a very cheap 10 metre ext lead with a logitech C270 for the last 12 months. The C270 was on special offer and less than £10 and I fitted it in a small waterproof floodlight case which cost £4 from one of the high street cheap shops. The setup does suffer from the lack of a visor and the sun sometimes gives bother but I fitted it in place just to try it out and it is still working reasonably well - www.graemsay.org.uk - camera 2 -
I have a second unit almost made up and fitted in a dome shaped dummy cctv case but laziness has slowed down progress just now.

Re: 15 meter USB
I have been using a 20m USB extension lead, with built-in signal boosters, which has (surprisingly) lasted two harsh New Zealand summers which lays across a tin/iron roof. I thought I would be replacing it every year but it is doing well. http://palmyweather.co.nz/webcams.php
