Neil, what were you expecting from Microsoft - they have been continuously requesting modifications to the HTML 5 code that it is not funny anymore for the other participants in the standardisation of HTML 5!!

Not only does the Weather gauge Console displays properly in Google Chrome, but it also displays properly in Apple Safari and Opera 8-) it also displays properly on my Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8.0.7600.16385 ... Ray wrote shyly

according the stats at a particular website IE is used only by 14.38% and thats way less than Firefox....

I wonder why

Top 10 Browsers
Firefox Firefox 1274 54.87%
Explorer Explorer 334 14.38%
Mozilla Mozilla 320 13.78%
Chrome Chrome 173 7.45%
Opera Opera 79 3.40%
Safari Safari 57 2.45%

I've just had a look at the stats for the Cumulus Wiki

Firefox -- 36%
IE8 -- 28%
Chrome -- 13%
Safari -- 5%
IE7 -- 4%
IE6 -- 4%
Opera -- 2%
Others -- 8%

The figure is overall, based on around 300,000 page hits

So the visitors on the wiki use IE browsers and FF equal, but I think and I'm almost sure the most common brower is IE http://gs.statcounter.com/ FFox is in the running mood.

Interestingly, based on my own weather site stats (with a rather more modest just under 100,000 hits) the 'winner' is IE8 :-( ....

IE8: 31%
FF 20%

46.39% Firefox 3.6
19.28% IE 7.0
13.25% IE 8.0
9.04% Chrome 8.0
4.82% Safari 5.0
1.81% Opera 11.0

I come in my top 6 on top for FFox but the ammount with IE is a little bit less , It has no sense to argue here which browser is the best, I think you simple can't ingnore the big 'players' on browsermarkt. I also see an ingrease of iPad users.

Neil, 'hate' is a strong word for describing the feelings I have for/against Microsoft internet Explorer...

I just do not like the Microsoft attitude that their "Swiss-cheese' browser is/was better than any other browsers, bar none! For years, Microsoft has bounded/forced/obliged/required users to use Internet Explorer by making sure it was installed on all computers running under a version of Windows ... and if a user ever tried to remove Internet Explorer then the rest of the Windows operating system would suffer greatly (I know, I have tried a few times)!

But, contrarily to most participants in this thread, I do not and will never feel obligated to modify my Web pages in order to make those pages compatible/compliant with Microsoft Internet Explorer (any versions)... I pay monthly a good amount of (canadian) dollars to offer weather information for free, not even asking for a donation to help pay some of the maintenance and operating costs, expecting nothing in return.

The only time I might/will change my mind about Microsoft and its Internet Explorer is when they fully agree to a new W3C Internet standard without continuously imposing their changes/modifications...

Oh, and as to which browser is the most popular/used: I have been browsing half a dozen of Google pages and no one agrees on which browser is at the top - the results are different on every pages... :geek:
