La Crosse WS2300
Does anyone have any opinion on the "series" of the La Crosse weather stations, i have just returned my 2nd Fine Offset machine to Maplins (not napkins lol)
I don't really want to buy a 3rd one, and does it work ok with Cumulus?

Re: La Crosse WS2300
According to the Wiki and the Help, the only La Crosse range supported is the WS2300 series
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Supported_ ... #La_Crosse
and specifically the La Crosse WS3650 and WS2800 are not supported, so that rules out the one you linked to

Re: La Crosse WS2300
Does anyone know any other software that MIGHT be supported by it, something that does the same sort of thing?

Re: La Crosse WS2300
apparently, that station above uses "heavyweather" softare, and it exports it as a textfile, is this something that cumulus could read and transfer?

Re: La Crosse WS2300
The only way that Cumulus could support the WS2800 would be to cheat and use the output from Heavy Weather (like the original easyweather.dat support for Fine Offset stations), but this is a very poor way of driving a station. It's not something I could fit in any time soon, if at all. Google will soon find you a particular piece of software that already does it that way, at a price.
While I have no first hand experience of La Crosse stations, it seems to me that they are not significantly better than Fine Offset.

Re: La Crosse WS2300
From my research on the abilities of various weather stations, it seems to me that you get very little improvement over Fine Offset stations until you get up to the Davis ones. There's the odd one with such things as a transmitter on each sensor, saving cabling and some have solar power like the latest Fine Offset but you seem to need to spend several times as much to see any noticeable improvement.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.

Yeah cheers guys, its just this experience with the Fine Offset has really put me off, unless there is a HIGHER one than the one I had (the napkins lol) Maplins one priced at £119.99

I've had my F.O for over two years and never had an issue. What has been your experience/problem?

I have two, one in the UK and one in France, bought at different times. Never had an issue with the hardware.

Re: La Crosse WS2300
Daj, the first one died with the water yeah, ok, little bit my fault for not securing the stevenson screen, the 2nd died because the rain meter wasn't working.
Just had a look at the La Crosse again, there is a 2350, updated version of the 2300 apparently, is this supported by Cumulus?

Yes, all 23xx models are supported, but note disclaimer about USB/Serial adapters.robynfali wrote:there is a 2350, updated version of the 2300 apparently, is this supported by Cumulus?

Re: La Crosse WS2300
Yeah I did notice that mate, was wondering, if they are not supported, how do you connect the display or transmitter to the pc?
