using process to generate text file
I have created a small wxT.txt file which I process using the internet files process function. I direct the remote output to a local file folder and name it "wx.txt". The processing works perfectly, but the file name in the local folder comes out as "wx.txttmp". How do I fix that? Also, is that new file being uploaded or put somewhere else? Am I doing this properly?

Re: using process to generate text file
The processing of files is really geared towards putting them on a web site, not generating them locally. The Remote Filenames box requires a path on your ftp server. The filename+'tmp' file that gets created on your PC is the result of the local processing to translate the tags. That file then gets uploaded to your web server using the path specified in the Remote Filenames box.
If it would be useful to be able to generate files locally without ftping them, I could add an extra check box for each file, called 'ftp?'. If that wasn't ticked, then the remote filename would be used as file on the local machine and the processed file copied to that location instead of being ftp'd. Is that the sort of thing you're trying to achieve?

Exactly! I am trying to create local text files which I can import into emails and into macros which I use for digital radio transmissions.

OK - I'll look into doing the change I proposed above. I think other people will also find this useful, e.g. those running Cumulus on their web server.

Very cool. You really make learning and developing ideas fun and interesting. I hope all of our "little" tinkering doesn't distract you from more significant work or slow more exciting advances.

I do seem to be slipping back into fiddling with Cumulus 1 instead of Cumulus 2, but I'll be calling a halt to that (again) soon

I've uploaded the build (746) with this in. See if you can break it

Re: using process to generate text file
Good point. I was going to say that removing the ftp login details would do it, but the way I've done this latest facility assumes that you will still be logging in to an ftp server. I'll fix that.GTB wrote:now how do i stop the normal FTP activity ?

Re: using process to generate text file
Give build 747 a try, it should allow the 'copy' option to work without requiring ftp (just blank out the server field).
