I had the impression from recent posts here that you were doing the housekeeping!

I just did the recovery from the recent mishap - adding back all of the entries that I could lay my hands on by various means.

I checked some more, from I to J, the date provided is for when it was last updated if had not been updated in the last few days. I will keep a eye on a few that have not been updated in the last few weeks to make sure that it is up to date or not.

I had noticed that some sites are using the Weather Underground link as their website and that was also my first start.
Thor Lake INTYELLO10 was up to date yesterday but see it is down on occassion, and it uses Cumulus v. 1.9.3 for upload
Saint-Antonin IQUEBECSA4 was last active Aug 9 and the upload software is not listed on the WU page.

Thanks for checking and now that the initial large volume is reviewed you can go back to your ongoing monitoring...

I had noticed that some sites are using the Weather Underground link as their website and that was also my first start.

It's just my opinion but unless the page behind the link shows a reference to Cumulus then I don't see how they could genuinely be classed as a Cumulus user. Links direct to WU should not be classed as a Cumulus user unless Steve has received a donation.

Ray, Strictly speaking, a link to Weather Underground but using data from Cumulus is not a Cumulus Weather Software web site. So I do agree with you on that. If it was up to me, I would not declare it as a valid site, but that is of course my opinion but its not up to me to make that decision.

This is what I think. Both a web site and a WU page can be included as long as reference to using Cumulus is made if this is a list of users regardless of whether if its a site or WU, but if this is a user map which is just a list of users on the web I would not worry if it is a web site or WU. But at the bottom of the map page it said: "If you use Cumulus Weather Software and want to have your site included on the map, please use the link below to submit your information. Use the same link if you are moving or need your information changed for a site already on the map. " which would mean only a site and not WU. But it depends whether the list is for sites or users, that I don't know.

I will continue to check the rest of the list over the coming days.

But if they're providing data to WU it must be Cumulus that is doing it. That's why the link should open to Cumulus generated web pages. To not do that is disrespectful to the author of Cumulus. I'll use Cumulus to provide data to a 3rd party site but not acknowledge it was provided by Cumulus.

I don't want to put more fuel to fire, but the Weather Underground upload protocol (http://wiki.wunderground.com/index.php/ ... d_Protocol) have a dedicated field to this task.

Also, the WU page reports this field automatically without any user intervention, because the "software version string" is embedded in the data reporting message.

Kevin's position is that the link has to be to a web site generated by Cumulus, not to a third-party data processor. The map was Kevin's idea, he wrote the software, and he handles all of the requests for inclusion. So as far as I'm concerned, Kevin's position is also my position.
