OK. Your next mission, should you choose to accept it: Your realtime.txt file keeps disappearing, and hence so does the data in your banner. You need to set 'use FTP rename' in the internet settings. This assumes your server supports it, of course.

Ah right - FTP rename - internet settings eh?
Let me hunt for something that looks like that. As for my internet server, if that's the same as my host, it's Easily (for now).

Personally, I'd drop the nr Appleby part of your title...

One-nil. Do you keep your inside temp sensor in your fridge or just wear lots of clothes?

We're just hardy up here!
Actually, the console is located in my old garden office which is no longer heated as it serves as my telescope store. I'm amazed the computer works at all sometimes, although the console's display sometimes buggers up, and this only seems to happen when it's cold.

Good point. I thought it looked a bit too long too.TNETWeather wrote:Personally, I'd drop the nr Appleby part of your title...

Re: Banners and mobile phone displays
I'm not really the expert on this - I assume it's the banner.php you're talking about? A 404 error sounds a bit odd to me, it suggests to me that you simply haven't uploaded it to the right place on your server, but apologies if you know what you're doing (with regards to uploading files to your web server) and it's something more complicated than that. A URL might help.w5afw wrote:newbie here... website works--php won't work (page not found); server checks out ok for php; files loaded ok; php edited for site address; still no joy...
Only if you're using the truetype option, and even then lack of the fonts wouldn't cause a 404.must I upload fonts onto my server? lex

Re: Banners and mobile phone displays
Thanks, I think the upload is okay. The error I get now says I am "not authorized to accesss" the file. The site I am building is at http://home.comcast.net/~w5afw/

I can't seem to get your site to load at the moment - I'll have a look tomorrow. Is it just a permissions problem with the PHP file, maybe?

Re: Banners and mobile phone displays
Was the server check page working originally and now it's not?

Re: Banners and mobile phone displays
The server check page never worked either; maybe these are not uploading properly, maybe there is some setup detail which I am missing - - I cannot figure it out. The web host indicates on a help page that they do support php, but as you may have seen, only a screen stating " not authorized to view" appears when invoking either one of those files. I will try the server check php on another web host which I use when I have time after while and see what happens. Thanks for trying to help sort this out, Lex

...been tinkering here. It is my opinion that despite their assertion, this host does not permit php. I guess there are more open hosts... lex
