I'm in the US but I've been using a British hosting site https://hostpresto.com/my/aff.php?aff=718 for two+ years now. Great tech's, easy set up and very reliable.

@dazza1123, I’ve also been using HostPresto for a couple of years now. Excellent service costing around 25GBP per annum.

They credit existing customers who make recommendations so if you join please mention my name.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

using my link will give me the referral credit, but I'm likely to be moving to another host so give dazza1223 the referral.

One of the reasons I'm moving is the ssl, the new host I'm moving to has free ssl. https://www.hostgator.com/

BTW, dazza1223 there's a referral number on your HostPresto home "desktop" make a link out of it on your website, it automatically credits your account.

Following on from the suggestions for HostPresto I set up my website with them and can report that so far the service provided met my expectations. A fairly comprehensive questionnaire to get a domain and basic site platform, with a clean VAT removal ( a very Jersey problem for UK sourced items). The overall cost to me x VAT was £36 per annum

My local website was then transitioned via filezilla to the new site and once the domain and account were confirmed I had a working site for public view within a couple of hours.

I am not sure about @f4phlyer comment about free ssl, what is this all about?

I'm no IT professional but I slept in a "Holiday Inn" the other night, but it is my understanding .......... :groan:
HostPresto, at least on my plan - when I started did not include free SSL. The new host I'm considering does. All of these modern hosting sites use "shared hosting" for their bottom tier plans, while I don't completely understand "shared hosting" it presents limitations on more sophisticated/complex sites. To be seen on the i-net now and more so in the future will require SSL. Almost any kind of automation (smart home) etc. requires (or at least should) SSL connections.

When I switched to HostPresto I had been with my previous host for several years, the technology had changed and continues to change, what goes on behind your dashboard to me is a black box. The good news is that the cost of hosting is dropping.
