Almost a month without news, longest period of silence so far, so everything seems to be OK ;)

CumulusUtils is still in the test phase, which is running very well btw, and I have the following remarks:
  1. The maps XML file had been corrupted on 20/2 (detected by Piotr) and repaired by me 22/2. When you rerun for mapson you'll be back on the map if you were removed. I'll check the XML regularly for errors the coming time to try to find the cause and may implement a correction. So far it is a small riddle what is happening. Personally I use the map for easy access to check the different sites for - especially - pwsFWI and related graphs so I hope you keep running the mapson module. Thanks.
  2. The weather in Australia seems to be slowly shifting towards autumn with rain quenching the fires and somewhat lower temperatures overall, this first fire season for pwsFWI has shown a successful relation between the index and the real situation locally on the ground. I am very happy with that and thanks for running the tool down under!
  3. All pwsFWI in the Northern Hemisphere are still green apart from San Sebastian which sometimes (strangely) turns blue. I am looking forward to the season in the North, especially in Southern Europe around the Mediterranean, hoping for some additional participants in that region (e.g. Italy and Greece).
  4. When I see weird things with a station I contact you (or you contact me) and we discuss, but when a station fails completely (Surrey Downs), it is up to you :?
For me, looking at all sites with the graphs and all different meteorological situations this has been a very interesting period seeing, interpreting and learning about all kind of different meteorological, geological situations and micro-geographical/meteorological influences (in relation to fire weather). Hope it is the same or similar for you. pwsFWI not only shows the fire weather index, but it also provides an overview of recent weather in the blink of an eye.

Currently I am working, on a much lower pace, on some other additions (records). But, because everybody has already some kind of records display, I am not in a hurry :). I am also working on another sensor project for air quality which I am not sure to share at all (and for which I am waiting - corona? - for some parts ordered in China :groan: ).

Hi Hans,
Thanks for posting this status review and it triggered me to check my status and found it hadn't updated since Feb 19th. All up to date now.
I had not made any changes in CumulusMX or any other settings so the only cause of the stoppage I can think of is my old Windows 8 weather computer acting up more than I thought. I do have a new Windows 10 to which I am migrating but still a lot to do before I can turn of old Win 8!

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Hans

Surrey Downs is in the process of bulldozing his house and building a new one, so he'll be off the air for a while. :)

CumulusUtils version 2.2.0 is online with a new Records module. Check out here.

You all may have one or more record pages of course, but this is a new style of monthly records, no more switching between pages.
Any suggestions will be considered.

Regards Hans

I just installed your new version; As always, it has been a beautiful and useful surprise:

http://kocher.es/records_hans.php

To add to the wish list, I suggest a script similar to the records, but dedicated to the normal values of the station (they can be daily, monthly, annual ...)

Thank you very much for your beautiful dedication.

Greetings from San Sebastian (Spain)

Thanks for the compliment and the usage.
I notice you do not have all time values for March. That is weird. Could you supply me your dayfile.txt for testing please? Or do you have an explanation?

[edit:] I checked your source and the march data are actually there so it must be the way your template functions which inhibits the display of any month of March!!

Could you elaborate on what you expect for the 'normal' value?
For me, a normal value is the 30 year average (e.g. from 1990 - 2020) for e.g. temperature. This is usually calculated by the national Meteo organisation for each station they have. I could calculate a 'normal' value for a cumulus station of course, but as nobody has 30 years of data that would be very limited in value. In addition you mention "(they can be daily, monthly, annual ...)". I think you mean something different from what I think.

Cheers, Hans

Have also though it would be great to have a "Normal" no the EVT graph as well, but it would require somewhere to store that data.

Only two options really would be the ini file or an alternate csv to hold those values.

It's interesting looking at the EVT charts as our season improves.

Cheers.

Thank you very much Hans for your comments-

1) Thinking about the reason for not seeing the values of the months of March. perhaps it may be because the beginning of the "dayfile, txt" file occurred on March 10, 2012; that is, the year 2012 is not complete, since it starts on 10/03/2012.

2) When I have suggested the normal values, I refer to the normal values of the station (of course, in this case there are no 30-year-olds, but we will try to know the average values of the station itself during its years of operation). I think we are all curious to know those values of your station, even to compare them with the official values of each location):

http://kocher.es/cumulusMX/climato-gw/c ... ni_day.php

(In this graph you can toggle between the options (in yellow) "monthly", "annual" and "daily" to obtain these values

I guess it won't be an easy matter to get, but ..

OK, thanks for the elaboration.

1) I think your http://kocher.es/central.php page is very interesting (even more than the page you cited) and gives me food for thought and now I understand more what you mean. I will give it a thought to see how to handle the station averages and come back to it sometime. Nevertheless, the term Normal, I would use for the official figure used by the meteo organisation. Station Average would be more my term for what you mean. I'll be back ;)

2) The display of march for 2013, 2014 2015 etc... does not work either. And I checked the page through element inspection, the tables do exist so something in your template inhibits the display of the march tables. I don't understand this, it's deep inside the template I guess.

Cheers, Hans

@kocher

What's happened to your 'holding' page ?
It's full of html doctype defs, but you've <script> first, and duplicate <head> and <body> sections - at least one broken link :(

Most unlike you, I think it's time for review / Spring clean !

Regards Beteljuice :)

I think I have not manipulated anything.

The html code is limited to the following:
<! DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "- // W3C // DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional // EN">
<html>
   <head>
   <meta http-equiv = "content-type" content = "text / html; charset = utf-8">
   <meta name = "generator" content = "PSPad editor, www.pspad.com">
   <title> FWI Index </title>
   </head>
   <body>
     <? php include ('records.txt');?>
   </body>
</html>
Thanks to your observation, I manually edited "records.txt" and corrected "Mrt" for "Mar".

Indeed, the March values are now displayed.

You are a great teacher :clap: :clap:
