Sitelock - worth it?

Post by bigmac »

My website host is One.com and I have just received my renewal for the coming year.
This year they have added on "Sitelock Find" for £13.68 + Vat for the year.
Given my website is basically for fun and I don't earn anything from it, is it really worth it? If my website were hacked, I would just restore it from my own backups that I take surely?
Or am I missing something?

I'm no expert on these matters but it sounds like something you don't really need. You have all your data backed up.

You didn't mention how much you pay for your hosting but I was with Steve until recently. I've now switched to HostPresto and haven't had any such offer from them. I'm paying £24 per year so if you're interested in switching let me know.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

not sure what sitelock is, if it is for you domain name as to hide your personal info from whois records i would do it. or you will be getting calls and spam from every where.
if its for web site backup or security then i wouldnt worry about it

https://help.one.com/hc/en-us/articles/ ... -SiteLock-

Find - does only that. Detects malware and attempts to hack you site, alerts you via email.

The more expensive 'Fix' they offer puts things right.

I would suggest for your purposes Sitelock is an unwanted expense. As long as they don't close you down for spamming or whatever you can always wipe the slate clean and rebuild from your back-ups.

Thanks for help all. Actual hosting and domain name renewal totals £36, so is fairly comparable Ray, so happy to stay with One, it was just the Sitelocker that they added without any justification and given I have had the site for a number of years without issue, question it’s need.
I have asked them to reissue an invoice without it, I’ll see what they say.
