Website help needed!

Post by scanman »

I have been running a Cumulus website for several years, now, but a few days I decided to give Cumulus MX a shot.It seems to be working fine on my PC. I deleted all the previous web-files from my server, and reloaded the Cumulus MX web files as per the instructions in the MX forum. Unfortunately, I have obviously buggered something up, because I have now lost the layout of the web-pages. I suspect I have deleted something I shouldn't have but, being a complete ignoramus about these things, I haven't a clue how to put it right! Any help would be appreciated.

I suppose "restore from backup" isn't an option?

It looks like you're just lacking the weatherstyle.css file, so you probably uploaded the three folders from the webfiles folder but missed that file.

Debugger (F12 button) shows this error:

<html><head>
<title>404 Not Found</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Not Found</h1>
<p>The requested URL /weatherstyle.css was not found on this server.</p>
<p>Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p>
</body></html>

Ha! Ha! Thank you, Steve. Uploaded that file and all is well. I wouldn't have spotted that in a month of Sundays! I am a happy bunny again. :D

Apologies for what is probably another silly question. I am trying to add a link to the following page http://www.new.avochweather.info/forecast.htm and thought I would try do this via the index page, next to the web tag forecast, but it keeps getting overwritten and disappearing! I am obviously overlooking something fairly simple and showing my ignorance, but if anyone could help me in very simple terms, I would be extremely grateful.

You need to edit the 'templates' - the files Cumulus uses to create the actual web pages. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Customised_templates

The index page template is called indexT.htm

Thanks, Steve. That is what I was trying to do, but I must have cocked it up somehow! I'll have another bash at it.
