Gauges.htm is coming out in the folder as 0bytes, any idea?

Post by larrystein »

Hi, my gauges.htm in the cumulus\web folder is coming out as a 0 byte file. Anyone had this problem?

All the other files are populated except gauges.

And my small, alignment changes are not propagating to my web page.

Thanks for your help.

This is using the standard gaugesT.htm template?

If you look in the latest file in the diags folder, there may be an error message starting "Error processing web\gaugesT.htm" which might help.

Hi Steve, that's a good point. I think it is the gaugesT that came with the realtime update.

As for the diags, there are only 9 files .1 trough .9 cumulus. No error files. Or do I have to look in these files?

Yes! I have looked at cumulus.9 and there is an error 32 when gaugesT.htm is accessed.

Then it says: FTP Error: FTP component not connected.

Could you attach that diags file, and I'll have a look?

Sorry Steve, I've been away for a few days due to my health.

Anyway I'm still getting gauges.htm as 0bytes.

Here is the file.

There seems to be something wrong with your gaugesT.htm, which is a bit strange if it's the original:

2009-09-15 10:58:25 : Error processing web\gaugesT.htm Error: Line too long on line 179

Could you please attach it (you'll need to zip it or disguise it in some way, the board software thinks html files are a threat to society) and I'll have a look.

someone else had the "line too long message" on the index.htm, but there is no resolution on the forum. I wonder if it is corrupt html file?

The problem in that case was that they were telling Cumulus to process a file that had already been processed.

Well! I have edited it a small amount but none of the active elements and only the meta data.

So I'll post it as a txt file OK.

Not OK.

I changed it to a txt file and the system said it is an possible attack vector and it wont let me post it.

Strange!

It must have looked inside the file and saw the html.

I'll have to put it in my web space and post the link.

http://www.larrystein.pwp.blueyonder.co ... augesT.txt

I think that should work.

Thanks

This is the same problem as I mentioned above - this file has already been processed (it has real data in it rather than web tags). But I'm not sure how much help I can be as this page seems to be using Ajax, about which I know nothing. I can't work out what you're trying to achieve. You now have a 'normal' web page masquerading as a standard Cumulus template (by having the same name as one), so if you have the 'include standard files' box ticked, Cumulus will try to process it and won't be able.

Yes! I know Steve.

The person who posted the ajax xml file is the one who needs to answer this problem.

I just used his original gaugesT.htm and the same thing happened again.
Cumulus made the gauges.htm file 0 bytes.
So, it looks like the person who posted it is an incompetent programmer and should not be allowed to post components on this board.

The only way I could delete the file was in a command prompt box.

Anyway, I'm not going to be loading any more of his stuff.

Thanks

Whoever it was probably didn't realise that Cumulus wouldn't be able to handle the file. There's probably nothing wrong with the file other than that. I can't remember now exactly what the file looked like, but I didn't spot any web tags in there that actually needed processing, but I may have missed them.

Hi Larry

I think there are two sides to this coin.

What it does show is that we should all be careful in what we copy and paste into our sites. I always try to get a little understanding as to what is going on and how it will affect my site. It's too easy to introduce a problem.

Hopefully you can get in contact with the person who passed you the code and it can get fixed. :D

Larry.

How about attaching the defective 'gaugesT.htm' file to your next message ... one of us might be able to detect the error ... or not... :geek:
