Monthly totals are not yearly totals [tick], get that.

But, the curved ball was me not grasping the terminology of heating & cooling days; and Day Degrees.
Trying to get my head around what those figures mean in real life; seems related to 65°F
Knee jerk reaction was why are temperatures being Summed, but I'm getting it now that the values are not temperatures.

Does Phil ever read / pay attention to what the beteljuice writes [cross] [tick].

But the hammer's killing a few brain cells.

A suggestion from BCJKiwi ...
Just a thought about heatdays and cooldays.

I added these to the SANITIZE list quite a long time ago.
Why?
Well it seems to me that if the value on any one day is zero, then by definition it is NOT a heating day NOR a cooling day.
This change makes the average values make more sense to me.
Comment added to bottom of first post, but as this a user choice, not added as a 'default' to base distribution file.

Thought it had died for a brief moment tonight.

NO DATA??????????

Seems it's just a 9:00am rollover thing in conjunction with a new year....

For beteljuice

As a suggestion for this great piece of software, would you consider adding a further line to the rainfall page. I suggest that this line shows the cumulative monthly total of rainfall under each month or part thereof so at 31 December the yearly total is shown.

please consider

Thanks

Keith,

I have modified the standard reader so it displays as per the attached screen shot. However, the version of the dayfile reader I started with - courtesy of Mark Crossley - was (a) quite old and (b) extracts the data from a sql database of the dayfile. I use different colours for the daily, monthly and cumulative totals because their means and ranges are vastly different.
If it is of any use I am very happy to share it.

Billy

Thanks for your offer. I'm not sure whether I can make it work as I am a totally "self taught" programmer but would like to have a look at the code you have "just in case".

Thanks

well I suspect the self taught (I'm one) are the majority of the forum's membership ;)

I will send you the modified dayfile reader in a pm. If you are not uploading your dayfile to a sql database then it will be of very limited value but it may at least give you some clues on a way to format the table.

Billy,
could I also have a copy of this, please?

I also miss the annual rainfall summary.

Best regards
Steinar

Hi Billy

thanks for your offer. I am not uploading to a MySQL database but will have a look at it.

Hi Billy,
I am updating daily to a GoDaddy MySQL KomokaWeather db Dayfile table. If that could work I would appreciate a copy of your script.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul, no worries - I will send via a pm.

Just to make clear its ancestry and limitations, this version was
(1) forked from the standard version some years ago - so doesn't have all the beteljuice modifications since then.
(2) was then modified by Mark Crossly (and perhaps others) to read the dayfile from a sql db.
(3) and then last year I added the rainfall running totals summary tables. My changes are poorly documented as, given point (1) in particular, I did not think it likely others would use it! I simply added some markers to give me clues of where I had fiddled things. Whether there are enough sign-posts even for me to easily figure out what I did is another thing!

If others are brave enough to want a copy just pm me.

Whilst considering the possibility, and the can of worms it may open (Windrun etc.), and it's actual validity given that WMO 'year' begins 09:00 March 1st local, I have suddenly realised that the years table is NOT displaying 2020 data.

When my heart gets off the floor I'll investigate ...

EDIT: Discovered a problem starting line #1913 - A direct result of the mods to correct the Seasonal display ...

... but now I've got 'til end of Feb to fix it, and have to wait 'til March to see if the fix will truly work.

That is if anybody is still using this prog and not using other alternatives / unfriendly templates .. :(

*** BUG FIX ***

Post by beteljuice » Sat 11 Jan 2020 1:59 am

IMPORTANT BUG FIX

Release..V7.1.2 now available from first post ...

The more observant of you will have noticed that in the year summary table 2020 had gone walk-about :o
This was a bug introduced in v1.7.1 and will persist until March (then 2020 will display)
It is not yet certain if the fix will cause problems in March ... So it's upto you if you update now or wait to see what happens :?

If you are updating then only betel_readDayfile.php is affected.
As usual Always Back-up your existing copy !
To save eye strain just cut-n-paste everything from the start of your working copy down to *** END OF USER VARS and paste over same area in new.

All your seasonal figures are one year in the future !

Did you notice whether or not it was like this in February ?

There are a few summation format probs that shouldn't be there either.
