Cumulus is very optimistic ;)

It looks for new data every 10 seconds, but most of the time it's disappointed.

Hi, a newbie here....

I got Cumulus Realtime up and running on a subdomain. Really like the look of it. I was wondering though, how to go about modifying the thermometer graphic so it can show up to 120 or 130 instead of just 100. I'd need to modify the wind chill the same way and would like to have a much lower rainfall (under 20 inches) gauge as well. Sorry if all this has been covered before.

Yes, at some point I plan to do some more work on getting the gauges to change scale appropriately.

Hi
I just had a look at Brampton Weather and I notice his windspeed is greater than the gusts.
Also no indication of rainfall units mm I assume but it could be inches.

You'll have to help me out here, my internet connection is unbelievably crap today. Which part of Paul's huge site are you referring to?

The 'gust' figure on a VP2 can be lower than the wind speed because of the way it is calculated. This is why I introduced the terminology 'latest' and started calculating a 10-minute peak gust figure to use as 'gust'.

To the realtime gauges? The rain shows as mm for me. And the gust thing is as explained above.

BT business broadband. It's normally excellent; syncs at 8192 kbps and downloads at the theoretical maximum speed. Today it's still syncing at 8128 but throughput is practically non-existant. I think I'm going to have to give up for now.

I'm looking forward to all values scaling on the graphs... 14 of the past 16 days, we've had temperatures over 100F (38C), so the temperature gague is pegged.

The heat's pretty bad here too, Gary; it got up to 73F once last week, I don't think I'll survive another one of those ;)

I'm held up a little on Cumulus 2 at the moment, which is one reason I've been tinkering with with version 1. I guess I could have a look at the gauges as another little diversion :)

I don't use IE very much, but I've just tried with IE8 (Windows 7 version) and it's working fine for me. But I have had that same problem occasionally with other Silverlight applications; I can't remember which browser I was using at the time, though.

I've done some changes to make the temperature gauges scale (and fiddled with rainfall a bit), so you (and anyone else who wants to try it) might as well have what I've done so far:

I've done a little testing, but not much. It's live on my Sanday weather site now.

Thanks, Steve. Just loaded this version today, I've been on the road. We'll undoubtedly have a chance to test it today, with a forecast for 108F (42C) and 100+ for at least the next 7 days... We're breaking records every day here and continuing our two year Exceptional Drought.
